Jordan Kelly has just graduated with a masters degree in
English. With her prospects of a PhD fading and her former
boyfriend maxing out her credit cards, she is in desperate
need of a job and a place to live. She answers an ad for a
live in position for the wealthiest woman in her small
hometown.
She is told to search for an unknown, unnamed screen play by
Agatha Christie. Supposedly written during the time Dame
Agatha disappeared, Jordan is having a hard time getting any
information. When she learns that the former assistant died
while trying to trace the screen play, Jordan takes certain
precautions.
Next a rare book seller is found dead and everyone suspects
Jordan of killing her. Jordan sets out to see if the
manuscript exists and who is killing off the people who
might help her with the find.
THE CHRISTIE CURSE is a marvelous read. Jordan and her
uncles are
such unique, enjoyable characters that I really didn't want
to put it down. The authors (yes, there has to be more than
one because the introduction says we) have created such
diverse characters for this book that it makes the reader
wonder who they might meet next. The humor in THE CHRISTIE
CURSE is fairly low key but with a bit of snark that is
entertaining. Even better, the mystery was really good.
There were just enough complications to the investigations
that kept my interest high. I will look forward to more by
the authors and pray that they include Jordan in them.
In 1926, Agatha Christie disappeared—making headlines
across the world—only to show up eleven days later at a spa
under an assumed name. During those eleven days, did she
have time to write a play?
Jordan Kelly needs a new job and a new place to live. She’s
back in Harrison Falls, New York, living with her not so
law-abiding uncles, in debt thanks to a credit card–stealing
ex and pending grad school loans.
Enter the perfect job, a research position that includes
room and board, which will allow her to spend her days
hunting down rare mysteries for an avid book collector.
There’s just one problem: her employer, Vera Van Alst—the
most hated citizen of Harrison Falls.
Jordan’s first assignment is to track down a rumored Agatha
Christie play. It seems easy enough, but Jordan soon finds
out that her predecessor was killed while looking for it,
and there is still someone out there willing to murder to
keep the play out of Vera’s hands. Jordan’s new job is
good…but is it worth her life?
