The second installment of the London Steampunk series
delivers just as much action and passion as its predecessor.
HEART OF IRON features the feisty Lena Todd and the
mysterious and dangerous loupe, Will Carver.
In a hybrid world that mixes the dark, gas lit streets of
London and futuristic advancements such as automons, Lena is
an unsuspecting spy. Great dangers follows her but only Will
understands how much trouble she is in when he discovers a
coded letter that is identical to one found on a fire-
bombing suspect. Unnaturally drawn to the human, Will must
suppress his desires when in her presence. But it seems that
passion burns brighter than his control because Lena and
Will engage in a dance of wills as they discover love within
the danger.
Bec McMaster has a unique way of luring readers in. The
worldbuiling is phenomenal, the kind that is only limited by
the boundaries of the imagination. McMaster continues to
step over that line and creates a vastly unique and utterly
vivid world that transports readers into another place.
Blending together steampunk elements in a traditional
historical setting is the soil in which McMaster uses to
grow and bloom wonderful surprises for her readers.
Not a surprise is the brooding, mysterious Will Carver whom
I fell in love with instantly. Will wants nothing more than
to be seen as an equal, however being loupe prevents that.
Therefore, he sees his curse as a disease, something that he
wishes he didn't possess, even though it clings to him. This
conflict is explored more fully later on in the book in a
way that made me completely believe in the romance.
McMaster has completely won me over. HEART OF IRON is so
impressive, it deserves a seal of excellence! Like moths to
a flame, readers will be drawn to the world and characters
McMaster has created. Make room on your keeper shelves
because the London Steampunk series is your first class
ticket to another mesmerizing world!
Lena Todd is the perfect spy. Nobody suspects the
flirtatious debutante could be a rebel against London's
vicious elite—not even the ruthless Will Carver, the one man
she can't twist around her little finger.
Will Carver, is more than man, he's a verwolfen and he wants
nothing to do with the dangerous beauty who drives him to
the very edge of control. But when he finds Lena in
possession of a coded letter, he realizes she's in a world
of trouble. To protect her, he'll have to seduce the truth
from her before it's too late.
