First let me say if you like reading James Patterson, you are going to love THE LAWYER'S LAWYER. The story takes place in Florida and spans over 13 years. The main character is Jack Tobin who is now a retired lawyer and works pro bono for an organization that helps innocent victims that are on death row. His first client is Henry, who is convicted of a murder that he did not commit. Jack gets him off and now they are the best of friends. Henry helps Jack out as an investigator. Now all Jack wants to do is go out on his boat with Henry and fish. Until he gets a phone call from Ben, who works for Exoneration. This is the company that helps inmates who are innocent get out of prison. Ben wants Jack to take the case of Thomas Felton who is convicted of a double murder. In October of 1993 there is a double murder of a young couple. There have also been several other murders. Are we looking at a serial killer? Danni Jansen and Sam Jeffies are on the case. Danni has interviewed Thomas Felton and feels in her gut that he is the serial murder that they have been looking for. But she has nothing to prove it. After they have interviewed Thomas, more murders happen. Danni's daughter Hannah is threaded by the murder. Sam's wife Alice is also murdered. Shortly after the bodies of the young couple are discovered, they find a knife outside of his apartment building and he is arrested and convicted of the murder. Along with the murders, there is also a rape that happens. Jack is asked by them to defend Julies. Jack has helped out his mother in the past. Jack and Henry are on the case. Danni is also the officer on this case. Jack and Henry do some investigation and find that Julies has been set up by a crooked sports attorney. Julies is set free. This is when Jack and Danni realize that they want to have a relationship. After a fast and furious affair, Danni calls it off, leaving Jack to wonder why. In 2003, when Jack is asked to take the case of Thomas Felton, he doesn't want to take the case. He finally decides to take it as he has found that the evidence against Thomas just doesn't add up. He does get him off, put this puts even more of a strain on the relationship that he had with Danni. As soon as Thomas is released the murders start again with Sam Jeffries' daughter getting murdered. Jack feels very guilty since he is the one that got him off. This leads to some bizarre events that will get Jack arrested for the murder of Thomas. James Sheehan has a lot of twists and turns in THE LAWYER'S LAWYER. It keeps you guessing from start to finish.

SUMMARY

Jack Tobin, the main character of THE MAYOR OF LEXINGTON AVENUE returns in this non-stop novel that combines enthralling plot twists with some of the best coutroom fiction being written today. Tobin, known as the lawyer's lawyer--the guy the best lawyer's say they'd want to represent them in a courtroom battle--undertakes the representation of a serial killer who he believes to be innocent. The Chief of Police is outraged, the citizens of Oakville where the murders occurred, erupt, and the State Attorney is out for blood as Jack challenges the criminal justice system once again. Sheehan masterfully weaves stories of love and friendship into one man's uncompromising search for truth within the four corners of a courtroom where it is often spoken about but seldom seen. Jack is in a fight for his life and the outcome is in doubt right up to the turn of the final page. A trial lawyer himself, James Sheehan is also a top-notch thriller writer. Once again he succeeds in translating the depth of his courtroom knowledge into an entertaining and truly fascinating read.
