Mystery Cozy

In this adorable cozy mystery we meet Brooklyn Wainwright. Brooklyn works as a bookbinder in San Francisco, California. Brooklyn's quiet life is turned upside down she discovers that the Covington Library has somehow obtained a copy of a book that once belonged to her but was stolen. The classic edition of Beauty and the Beast was once a part of Brooklyn's impressive book collection, but when her friend Max Adams became engaged, Brooklyn gave him the book to give his fiancee. Before the wedding, Max died in an accident and the book Brooklyn gave Max's fiancee, Emily was stolen when her apartment was broken into. Now the book has resurfaced at the Covington Library and Brooklyn won't rest until she finds out how it got there.

Brooklyn has no trouble finding out how Covington obtained her book. The book came from a bookseller named Joe, who owns an antique bookstore. But when Brooklyn pays his store a visit, she discovers more than book lined shelves.

Kate Carlisle has penned a delightful treat for bookworms about a bookworm with one heck of a problem on her hands! There is just one word to describe ONE BOOK IN THE GRAVE: A BIBLIOPHILE MYSTERY - fun! Brooklyn's spunky attitude provides comic relief throughout the book. I did feel " the bad guys" were too stereotypical, almost cartoon-like. There also wasn't much suspense throughout the book, since there are only two people who are thought of as suspects. Brooklyn don't feel the need to look elsewhere for a suspect, which brings the excitement level down in the novel. But Carlisle still manages to keep the readers highly amused and finishes the novel with a clever little twist.

SUMMARY

Brooklyn's chance to restore a rare first edition of Beauty and the Beast seems a fairy tale come true-until she realizes the book last belonged to an old friend of hers. Ten years ago, Max Adams fell in love with a stunning beauty, Emily, and gave her the copy of Beauty and the Beast as a symbol of their love. Soon afterward, he died in a car crash, and Brooklyn has always suspected his possessive ex-girlfriend and her jealous beau.

Now she decided to find out who sold the book and return it to its rightful owner-Emily. With the help of her handsome boyfriend, Derek Stone, Brooklyn must unravel a murder plot-before she ends up in a plot herself...
