Lady Kate Seaton is a dowager duchess at a young age. Her wit and daring are the admiration of many of the ton but few know her well. Even fewer know her secrets or would guess that she had many. When her husband dies, Kate sets out to scandalize the town and enjoy life. She keeps the Duke's sister, Lady Beatrice, as a companion.

Lady Bea suffered a head injury and can't talk in a fashion that others understand. Others are puzzled by the care and attention that Lady Kate lavishes on Bea.

Harry kidnaps Kate and takes her to a remote estate where he vows to learn what she knows. What he learns isn't what he expects. Harry and Kate will have to overcome the past before they can look to the future. Together they will expose the true traitor and overcome years of distrust.

This is the best of the three books in this series so far. As the reader follows the trials that Harry and Kate face, they will be caught up in the horrors of the lives of the hero and heroine. They will be saddened by the tragedies of the past and gladdened as the two work to overcome the lies. There is much to celebrate as they work out their differences and learn to open their hearts. Be prepared to laugh and cry, to despair and to rejoice as secrets are exposed and love triumphs.
