Once the haze and confusion cleared he found himself without any memory of who he is. To make it worse, he realized he was confined at a slave market. Twenty years have past and all he has known is the pain and humiliation of being a sex slave to the royal princess Odette of the kingdom of Delfina. The urge for revenge is strong within his mind, the only problem is that he doesn't know who or what he wants to avenge.

Someone is playing a cruel joke on Jane Parker but she doesn't know who or why. After a devastating accident, Jane spent months bedridden without the use of her legs. She has had dreams for sometime that involve a sexy vampire who smells of sandalwood and is chained against his will. The thought of the dreams makes heat rise through out Jane's tired body. When a distressed book appeared on her porch detailing what seems to be the story of her imprisoned dream lover. Within the story, a passage calls out to Jane to help Nicolai. The shock drove her to re-read the passage out loud. It was odd to have her name mentioned in an old book detailing the life of a dream. It was crazy that she found herself waking up in the chamber of her dream man's captor.

LORD OF THE VAMPIRES is an exciting story of magic and determination. Nicolai is a strong character who doesn't let anything get in the way of his mission, including the fact that he doesn't remember what that mission maybe. The mystery of his identity and the race for the truth moves the story at a high pace. The chemistry and love that is sparked between Nicolai and Jane leads to steamy interaction during the journey. The world that is built within this story and continued in the rest of the series is intriguing and draws the reader to beg for the next installment. I am mesmerized by the concept of a series written by multiple authors. Showalter has started off the series magically.
