With PATH OF THE WICKED, the second book in her Hope Street
Church Mysteries, author Jennifer Stanley takes her readers
on a visit to the good parishioners of the Hope Street
Church, mainly folks who attend the Sunrise Bible Study
Group.
Copier-repair gal Cooper Lee and the members of her Sunday
School class, in an effort to help out their community,
have volunteered to help pack and deliver meals for the
Door-2-Door Dinners charity, and things are going well
until it appears that someone is robbing the elderly
clients who receive meals from the service. And when one of
the clients is found murdered, and the prime suspects look
to be someone from the charity, Cooper, along with her new
boyfriend, the gentle Nathan, begin to look into who might
be committing this unheavenly deed.
Stanley does a great job reviewing the vast cast of
characters that populate this series, among them the
delightfully quirky Lee family, and this is important for
first time readers, as there is a lot of folks to keep up
with. The story is fast-paced and interesting, with the
right amount of intrigue and suspense to keep it moving
along, plus there are nice touches of biblical verse
scattered throughout.
Congregants at the Hope Street Church know that
charity begins at home. But sometimes what is giveth is
mysteriously taketh away…
Cooper Lee and the Sunrise
Bible Study Group have has just volunteered for a local
charity, Door-2-Door Dinners. Sure, some of the volunteers
look more like Hell’s Angels than Good Samaritans, but the
ragtag church group has taught Cooper not to judge a book by
its cover. Besides, this gives Cooper a chance to get out of
the house—which she shares with her parents—and spend some
quality time with her new love, Nathan. But things really
start heating up for Cooper and Nathan when an elderly
Door-2-Door recipient is murdered—and the prime suspects
are…the volunteers!
Someone in the flock is a wolf in
sheep’s clothing. But the Lord works in miraculous ways—and
so do the sleuths of the Sunrise Bible Study
Group…
