In 1337, flame-haired Katrine de Gravere agrees to shelter
Renard, a very mysterious and seductive man posing as a
smuggler of wool. In truth, Renard, the secret bastard of
the deceased princess, is a spy for King Edward during the
wool embargo to secure Flanders.
Katrine, whose father has been placed in jail, poses as a
married woman to continue his weaving business. She gives
shelter to Renard believing he's able to obtain fleece for
her. While under the protection of her uncle, Katrine
instead finds herself in immediate danger from him. Renard
and Katrine tell each other many lies in support of their
causes, while at the same time falling in love with each
other.
Renard's loyalty to King Edward, as well as his love for
Katrine, present difficult choices when Katrine is charged
with being a spy and faces hanging. Their future hangs in a
balance as surprising facts are uncovered and Renard learns
of his heritage.
I thoroughly enjoyed Blythe Gifford's INNOCENCE
UNVEILED. The story is laced with much excitement and many
interesting plots for the characters. She's developed
believable characters and woven a beautiful love story,
while still giving the reader historical facts.
He is a man of secrets
When a mysterious, seductive trader arrives at her door,
noblewoman Katrine de Gravere reluctantly agrees to give
him shelter. The payment—enough wool to keep her precious
looms filled.
She is a woman of lies
Sleeping under the same roof, tempted every minute to let
his fingers linger on this flame-haired, reserved
innocent, Renard wonders if she suspects his real reasons
for being there. In a town where no one feels safe,
Katrine makes him yearn for things long forbidden, but can
he trust her not to betray him?
