Charlie Newcomb lost her beautiful singing voice in an
accident. Afterward, she fell into the bottle -- whiskey
bottle, pill bottle, cocaine vial, whatever she could get
her hands on. Now she's a recovering addict and alcoholic.
And lately, she's felt as if she's constantly being
watched -- by someone or something.
Charlie's sister is a research scientist running tests on
vampire blood, who doesn't realize she's employed by
demons, or that she's engaged to one. To ensure she
continues her work for them, the demons plan to have
Charlie turned into a vampire -- one they can control. But
Charlie has a Guardian.
Ethan watches over Charlie and keeps her safe from things
that go bump in the night. Things she doesn't let herself
believe exist. But she's soon forced to acknowledge
scary "other" beings do exist and that they have plans for
both her and her sister. She will do anything for her
sister -- but when she falls in love with Ethan, that's just
for herself. And Ethan, well, he's loved Charlie for a
long, long time. However, in order to have a life together,
they'll not only have to rescue Charlie's sister from the
demons, they'll have to thwart the demons' attempts to
loose their master upon the world.
DEMON NIGHT, Ms. Brook's fifth installment in her Guardian
series (a world of vampires, demons and Guardians), is
poignant and compelling with lots of action, and it's very
sensual. You'll fall in love with Charlie, and Ethan will
cause your thermometer to blow its top. An excellent plot,
wonderful dialogue and a superb setting serve to make DEMON
NIGHT a very good read. Don't miss reading it or any of
Meljean Brook's other novels in this series. Come on
number six!
Beautiful Charlie Newcomb is being hunted by vampires, for
she is the link to a medical miracle that could be
invaluable to the night stalkers. Her only protection is
her guardian, Ethan. But will he be enough to save her
when darkness falls?
