Conor McTiernay has quite a lot of responsibility, from
ruling over his clan to being a good older brother to his
younger siblings, which are all rowdy brothers. Conor tries
to rule with an iron fist and refuses to even think of
marrying any eligible ladies that is until Laurel Cordell
enters his life. From that moment on, Conor is lost. His
heart and soul belong to Laurel even though she defies his
orders for her well being and constantly questions the way
he does things.
Laurel was on her way to live with her Scottish grandfather
until his enemies came along and captured her for their own
nefarious ways. Laurel was able to escape them, but then
landed into the hands of Conor McTiernay. Laurel is very
outspoken, yet gentle to those around her. She is also very
beautiful and entrances men and women alike with her
contrary nature. Conor tries to stay immune to her charms
but it soon becomes a lost cause. By time Conor reaches his
lands, their verbal sparing has become more heated with
kisses and embraces. Laurel tries to deny her feelings for
Conor because she thinks he will become disgusted with her
because she is English and has some secrets of her own she
can not trust him with.
When Conor falls for Laurel, he falls hard and does
everything he can to make Laurel see that they are soul
mates. Laurel in turn cares for Conor but the fear for her
safety and those around her are constant.
Michele Sinclair has written a little gem of love and
innocence with THE HIGHLANDER'S BRIDE. Laurel is the too
good to be true heroine, but her thoughts and actions are
quite enjoyable as she throws Conor constantly off center.
Conor is one hero most woman would love, from his protective
nature to not being able to control his emotions when it
comes to Laurel’s antics along with her fears of being torn
from his arms.
Some may have issues with Laurel’s way of thinking and the
dangers she finds herself in. There are also the usual
stereotypes found in this type of story. But, overall the
story’s innocent way has a nice feel to it and Conor and
Laurel are two characters that are very charming, especially
when each tries to get their own ways about loving and life
in general.
This novel, which journeys from the border country of
Scotland to its majestic highlands, is a story of two
people learning to believe and trust in the miracle of
love.
All Laurel Rose Cordell wanted was to leave England, her
brother, and her memories of isolation and go live with her
grandfather, a Scottish laird she had not seen since she
was a child. She sought peace, quiet and no excitement.
But after one look at the stunning lass, an evil laird’s
son was determined to possess her and was willing to do
anything to acquire what he desired. She was in desperate
need of a hero, and it came in the form of a large, rugged
highlander.
Conor McTiernay was responsible for overseeing six younger
brothers and a very large clan. Women, especially pretty
ones, were either trouble or a hassle, and he vowed never
to commit to one. That is until one beautiful lass
stumbles into his camp on his way home. As he fights for
her safety, then her freedom and finally her honor, she
learns how to trust, and he how to love, and together they
discover the power of capturing a Scottish heart.
