In this third installment of The Bridesmaid Chronicles, we meet Vivien Shelton, the bride's best friend. Viv, a tough New York divorce attorney, is astounded that her best friend, Julia, is getting married. Julia has only known the guy a few weeks, and even though she knows Julia is flighty, Viv never expected her friend to go this far.
When Julia's sister, Sydney, tells Viv about Julia's fake engagement ring, Viv decides she needs to talk some sense into her, or at least get her to sign a pre-nup. Vivien has seen enough marriages go bad to know that a girl has to have a pre-nup. Hopping a plane to Texas, Viv charges in to save Julia, as Sydney has obviously failed to do.
J.B. Anglin is the groom's lawyer and one of the groomsmen. He's surprised that his good buddy has decided to tie the knot at all, never mind in the space of a few weeks. But J.B. is an easygoing guy and, though he's divorced, he still believes in love, and therefore wishes his friend all the happiness in the world. When Viv marches into town with pre-nups on her mind, J.B. sees red. This may have something to do with their one night stand three years ago - - the one night he can't get out of his mind, the one woman he's never forgotten, the woman who used him for sex (wham- bam-thank-you-ma'am, or sir, as the case may be) and threw him out of her room.
J.B. decides that seducing Viv might just be the best revenge. What he doesn't know is that she's never forgotten him either. Misunderstandings and assumptions might just kill any chance these two have.
FIRST DANCE is my favorite story so far. The characters have a lot of depth and human vulnerabilities. It's a fast- paced read, but you still get to know J.B. and Viv and what makes them tick.
