Young Adult Science Fiction

What if you were fifteen,  bound for a new world, about to pledge your life to someone you’d been promised to since birth, and one unexpected violent attack made survival – not love – the issue?

Out in the murky nebula lurks an unseen enemy: the New Horizon. On its way to populate a distant planet in the wake of Earth’s collapse, the ship’s crew has been unable to conceive a generation to continue its mission. They need young girls desperately, or their zealous leader’s efforts will fail.

Onboard their sister ship, the Empyrean, the unsuspecting families don’t know an attack is being mounted that could claim the most important among them… Fifteen-year-old Waverly is part of the first generation to be successfully conceived in deep space; she was born on the Empyrean, and the large farming vessel is all she knows. Her concerns are those of any teenager – until Kieran Alden proposes to her. The handsome captain-to- be has everything Waverly could ever want in a husband, and with the pressure to start having children, everyone is sure he’s the best choice. Except for Waverly, who wants more from life than marriage – and is secretly intrigued by the shy, darkly brilliant Seth.

But when the Empyrean faces sudden attack by their assumed allies, they quickly find out that the enemies aren’t all from the outside.

Glow is the most riveting series debut since The Hunger Games, and promises to thrill and challenge readers of all ages.

Advanced Reader Review:
Loved this book and I cannot wait until the next one comes out, probably a year since this one is not even out yet!
Great for young adults and for adults.
The basic idea is that we have ruined Earth so we are sending out teams in ships to try to reach New Earth. Having children on the ships was very important as well as trying to keep a society. Of course something goes wrong on one ship so they try to make everything right by taking another ship. Tons of science in this that really does make sense, along with how people react to a new chance to live. Having that taken away from one group can change people in ways we know, but do not like to think about. Young kids will really love this and parents do not have to worry about adult things in the book, most everything is address from the level on a twelve or thirteen year old. You get why they ask those questions, which is why adults will like this also.
Kids are strong and this book shows the best and worst sides of humanity. You will love the end and like me, wait for the next!
