In Halo, Georgia, folks know Cherry Tucker as big in mouth,
small in stature, and able to sketch a portrait faster than

Re: Portrait of a Dead Guy
“Portrait of a Dead Guy” is an auspicious start to Larissa Reinhart’s career as a mystery writer. The book has already garnished a variety of awards and nominations and it has yet to be published. The book is scheduled to be available on August 28, 2012 and is from Henery Press.
Under the name Larissa Hoffman, “Portrait of a Dead Guy” is a finalist for the Emily Award in the category of Romantic Suspense, a finalist for the Dixie Kane Memorial contest in the category of a Novel with Romantic Elements and a finalist in the Unpublished Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense in the Single Title Romantic Mystery/Suspense category.
I do hope that the ”Single Title” category turns out to be incorrect, I would love to read more about Cherry Tucker and the rest of the characters in Halo, Georgia. The story opens with Cherry Tucker working to get a commission from the wealthy Branson family. Their problem son, Dustin had recently been murdered and the step mother wants a portrait of him in his coffin. As a portrait artist working in the small town of Halo, Georgia, commissions aren’t easy to come by so Cherry Tucker is willing to fight for this one.
In describing the situation, Cherry Tucker states: “Good customer service is important for starving artists if we want to get over that whole starving thing. As if to remind me, my stomach responded with a sound similar to a lawn mower hitting a chunk of wood. Luckily, the metallic knocking in the long-suffering Datsun engine of my pickup drowned out the hunger rumblings of my tummy. “ Cherry Tucker offers us a feisty, creative and resourceful female lead character full of southern charm. She is a magnet for trouble, due in part to her weakness with good looking men. As with many cozy mysteries, characters are one of the great strength of this book. I especially liked her Grandfather’s pet billy-goat, Tatter.
The story moves at a rapid pace taking you on a curvy road with a disastrous funeral, (Art Molinares 9:08am July 21, 2012)
