Simon Kent is just an ordinary 12-year-old trying to cope with the loss of his parents and the bullies at school . . . or so he thinks. After meeting an outspoken girl with strange hair that changes colors with her mood, he is swept into a futuristic world filled with dragonlike creatures, vast technology, and enslaved giants. But Simon also stumbles upon a secret: He can perform magic in this parallel world! While fighting mystical creatures, unraveling an ancient mystery, and even experiencing his first kiss, Simon discovers that he, an outsider from Earth, is the only person who can save the high-tech planet from an impending doom.

It is awesome the way you have bounced back time and time again. Best of luck with the Voice of America show.

My dad was a fireman and I know how you feel about your life up in flames. I love reading about interview and the preparation beforehand so you can ask intelligent questions and also the ones no one else will ask, but people want to know anyways.

I'm a regular reader of your newsletter, so I know of the fire you talk about. I was always very impressed with the way you and your family handled that situation.

The book looks amazing. My mother lived through a fire as a child & is still troubled by it. So best wishes.

I hope this holiday season is an opportunity for you and your family to heal. As a survivor of Ike; I was deeply disturbed by what a lifechanging event such things turn out to be. There is literally no way for anyone else to even comprehend such shocks. At least with a hurricane, we had some advance warning; there are no warnings or predictions that can prepare anyone for the devastation of a house fire. I was grateful to read that your family was safe. When you can get back to writing again, know that your loyal readers are waiting.

I nearly lost my home to fire about 10 years ago and even though it didn't burn down, the smoke damage had us living with family for 3 months until all was replaced. I hope you get your home back soon and wish you the best of luck with your writing. Looking forward to reading your novel.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Thanks everyone. It's been almost 6 months since the fire and we're still fighting the insurance company. Since it'll take 6 months to repair the house, we're looking at at least 1 year in a rental home. At least we're all safe. Happy holidays everyone and I hope you enjoy my radio show and book!
