Dr. Carrie Ames didn't expect to live, but she did. After
surgery, her recovery wasn't exactly like it should be.
First she had a very high fever, but as soon as it broke
her temperature went down to 92 degrees. If that wasn't
strange enough, her appetite has changed as well. She can
eat all the time and never feel full. Then there was the
sun. Normally she burned pretty easy but now it was just
extreme.
Carrie started looking for answers to what she might be.
Although, she never really expected to find anything, she
posted a brief description on a message board. Most of what
she got wasn't what she expected. Some were offering to
save her soul, to help her out of the abusive relationship
that she wasn't in, but one alone gave an address.
Finally, she convinced herself that there was nothing
wrong with going there and finding some answers, if there
were any. Of all the things when she finally arrived, being
attacked by a child was the one thing she didn't see
coming. Or the sexy man who came in just a she was leaving.
Blood Ties Book One: The Turning was great until I hit the
middle of the book. I still kept reading because I figured
it would pick up again, but when it came down to the end I
was a little disappointed. Although Jennifer Armintrout had
the twist down and the beginning going great it just didn't
hold me. I guess I just expected more from the characters.
Hopefully, the next one will be better.
I'm no coward. I want to make that perfectly clear. But
after my life turned into a horror movie, I take fear a lot
more seriously now. I finally became Dr. Carrie Ames just
eight months ago. Then I was attacked in the hospital morgue
by a vampire. Just my luck.
So now I'm a vampire, and it turns out I have a blood
tie to the monster who sired me. The tie works like an
invisible leash and I'm bound to him no matter what I do.
And of course he's one of the most evil vampires on earth.
With my sire hell-bent on turning me into a soulless killer
and his sworn enemy set to exterminate me, things couldn't
get much worse--except I'm attracted to them both.
Drinking blood, living as an immortal demon and being a pawn
between two waring vampire factions isn't exactly how I'd
imagined my future. But as my father used to say, the only
way to conquer fear is to face it. So that's what I'll do.
Fangs bared.
