Jessica Sorensen is no stranger to writing dark matters.
In fact it seems that
this is where she excels at the most. In the second part
of Nova and
Quinton's story, we see a much deeper side to Quinton's
problems. After
spending a summer together, a romance bloomed between them
but now
that Quinton is gone, Nova isn't likely to give up on him
yet. She sets out to
find him and help him.
In this dark themed book, Sorensen spends the majority of
the book working
on getting Quinton better. The struggle to face his demons
is hard to read at
times but it comes off as very realistic. As a result, the
romance does take a
backseat. Usually this would be a cause for concern, but
in Nova in trying to
help him, you see how much she cares about him. The thread
of romance is
far more subtler, but it's there. I think if the author
were to suddenly put in a
full-blown romance within the pages of the book, it
wouldn't be as potent.
Sorensen opens up possibilities for Tristan's character,
one who can be hard
to like at first. However, if he continues on the path he
is currently on, then
I'm sure there's room for redemption in his future.
SAVING QUINTON ends on a cliffhanger. As the case with all
of Jessica
Sorensen's books, these characters will make you fall in
love until you're
desperate for the next fix!
