Twins feature in this modern tale, and I wished their names
had been a little less similar than Nash and Cash. Olivia
is a shy girl at a hen-night party in Atlanta when she's
pushed into taking clothes off the hunky male stripper
who's just walked through the door of the room. She gets
as far as his shirt when the chuckling man explains that
the entertainment is behind him, and he's the club owner.
Already embarrassed, Olivia is mortified. This guy is Cash.
In DOWN TO YOU, the Davenport twins have separate lives.
Cash took on their mother's club and Nash is qualifying as
a lawyer. Next day Olivia, who stays with her bossy cousin
Marissa, meets Nash and, of course, mistakes him for Cash.
She hadn't met Marissa's boyfriend before and didn't know
he was a twin. Olivia is studying to be an accountant and
mostly leads a quiet life, bartending on weekends to boost
her small income. When her car won't start she's awkward
about accepting a lift from Nash. She tells him about
herself, and next thing, he's arranged for her to work at
Cash's club for better pay. Which is even more awkward as
Olivia blushes every time she sees him....
This light-hearted tale switches between main characters'
viewpoints every few chapters, showing us what they are
thinking and doing. I found it somewhat disconcerting when
Olivia's first evening at work turns out to require her to
lie on the bar counter and have a man lick salt off her
bare stomach and suck a lime wedge from her mouth before
downing a shot. Maybe there are women who would be
comfortable doing that. Olivia's previously quiet life
hasn't prepared her - or her wardrobe - for a wide variety
of scenes, so when she accompanies a twin to a formal
occasion she doesn't fit in. However I thought she had no
right to call the women judgemental when she'd just
dismissed a perfectly nice man as dorky. Matters heat up
in the bedroom when Olivia has to decide which twin she'd
prefer to get to know better, and I won't spoil the
surprise. Olivia goes to help her father on the family
farm at lambing time, and this makes her a more rounded
person for us.
DOWN TO YOU by M Leighton is the first part of the story
and the next part is to be called 'Up To Me'. It's a
quirky adult romance with lively characters and settings.
One girl. Twin brothers. An uncommon triangle.
When college student Olivia Townsend returned home to help
her father run his business, she never imagined a
complication like Cash and Nash Davenport—twin brothers
different in so many ways but with one thing in common: an
uncontrollable desire for Olivia.
Cash is dangerous, sexy, and bad to the bone—a man whose
kisses make Olivia forget she is playing with fire. Nash is
successful, reliable and intensely passionate—and already
taken. But all it takes is one soft stroke to make Olivia
forget he belongs to someone else.
However, Olivia is in for a surprise. These boys have a
secret that should make her run away as far and as fast as
she can. If only it wasn’t too late. A sensual game between
three players has begun, and it’s about to spin deliriously
out of control.
