The storyline starts off simply, girl gets promised to a
Laird to unite two families. Should be a simple and easy
affair, travel there get married and live happily ever
after. Oh no the simple life is apparently something that
Lady Alana has left at home, for the travel to
her betrothed's lands is when things seem to get really
complicated. For you see, Lady Alana Forbes never thought
that anyone, let alone one man, would be able to kidnap
her and her entire traveling party! Yet that is exactly
what has happened. Finding herself captured by a man who
quite simply takes her breath away in ways that she never
thought possible was not what Alana had planned before she
met her betrothed.
As a cursed half-Fae Laird, Duncan MacDougall will do
anything to reverse the curse put upon him by his heritage
and by his mother. Whether it is bribery, killing, or
stealing the bride of his half-brother there is nothing
that Duncan will not do to reverse the curse. Having his
nights haunted by beings whose sole purpose seems to be to
torture and try to kill him is not something any man can
live with. Duncan has found that the key to ending the
nightmarish curse lies in the hands of a half-brother he
has never seen. Duncan knows that the Lady Alana may be his
only key to getting the magic bow and saving his sanity, and
using her as a pawn is exactly what he plans to do. What
Duncan didn't count on was how beautiful his brother's
bride would be. Nor can he deny the feelings that she has
raised within him. How can he keep his hands and his heart
away from this beautiful woman long enough to earn his
freedom?
One is not supposed to be drawn toward her captor is she?
Alana soon realizes that not only is Duncan devastatingly
handsome, but that he has woken feelings within her that
she may never find with anyone else. While she can force
her hands to remain still, the lustful thoughts that Duncan
arouses within her seem to have a mind of their very own.
Can she sacrifice everything and put her life on hold for
the one thing, the one man she finds herself wanting more
than anything else?
This book was magical both in the story and in the spicy
scenes. Author Nicole North has captured the mythology of
the Fae and tied them into the heart of Scotland. Throw in
a whole lotta lust, and this book is sure to light a fire in
the mind of any reader. The only thing that I found
lacking in this book were pages.
Half-Fae Laird Duncan MacDougall is cursed. His nights are
haunted by Otherworld creatures sent to kill him. The only
way to stop them is to possess the magic bow currently in
the hands of his enemy half brother, Kinnon MacClaren. In
desperation, Duncan plans to take MacClaren's bride-to-be
hostage and exchange her for the bow.
Lady Alana Forbes has never met her intended, but she
hopes he is handsome—and a good lover, for Alana is no
innocent virgin. On her way to Castle Claren, Alana and
her escorts are intercepted, and she is kidnapped by a man
with extraordinary abilities—and every attribute she longs
for in a mate.
Duncan didn't expect the woman he thought of as a mere
pawn to be so beautiful, and so arousing. Alana is drawn
to him as well—but Duncan still needs the bow, and Alana
is betrothed to another. How far will Alana go to save the
life of the man she's come to love?
