Oil heiress Marissa Vasquez survived the battle in
Twilight, Tennessee, only to find herself returning to the
nightmare she'd hoped she'd escaped. Twilight provided a
brief, welcome sanctuary from the evil plotting of her
uncle, but vampire Hernan Cortes Herrera has kidnapped
Marissa, returning her to his compound in Belize. Marissa
has lost her will to live, having lost her family under her
uncle's rule, as well as losing the heroic Navarre, one of
the renowned Shadowmen, who could not have survived the
attack on Twilight. She saw him struck down by the enemy,
but she clung to Navarre's memory during the darkest
moments of her captivity.
Marissa is horrified when she discovers what Herrera
intends for her and makes plans of her own to thwart him.
What she doesn't count on is the trump card Herrera holds,
or the appearance of one she thought lost. Navarre and
Marissa make their escape from Herrera's compound, but
getting out of the country will take all they have, and
more.
BRIDE OF THE WOLF by Jennifer St. Giles is the
fourth of the Shadowmen series. Unlike the other stories,
which stood alone, readers will want to read the first
three novels in order to understand the action to-date.
Marissa is a passionate, strong character, and Navarre a
worthy hero, but I never felt a connection with them as I
did with the characters in previous novels. The violence
was uncomfortably graphic and the action erratic; with so
many supporting characters it was sometimes difficult to
keep everyone straight. A highpoint is the continued peeks
into Dr. Cinatas, who is the scariest thing in the series.
The man is pure evil and gets scarier with every story.
Injured Blood Hunter Navarre is kidnapped along with oil
heiress Marissa Vasquez. Their bid for freedom, puts them
into a deadly race for their lives as the become the hunted
prey of two Vladarian Vampires and the evil Dr. Cinatas.
Together Marissa and Navarre's spirits form a powerful link
matched only by their passion. But can a mortal woman attain
true love with a man who is half wolf? Or will their enemies
steal their one chance at happiness?
