Romance Contemporary

Josie Marcus is at it again. Being a mystery shopper has lots of perks, like designer dresses and high-end shoes, but for Josie, it somehow also includes murder. When on assignment shopping in a classy shoe store, Josie stumbles upon a top salesman who has more than just selling shoes on his mind. Thinking she has done a good deed by exposing the man for what he is, Josie unexpectantly winds up smack in the middle of a murder investigation that turns her life upside down.

When her childhood nemesis, Cheryl, is accused of doing the shoe salesman in, Josie reluctantly comes to her aide to prove her innocence, but for a price of course. Even Josie has her pride despite her unfortunate circumstances in life. A single parent who lives at home with her mom, Josie wants to prove to everyone that she may not have made the best choices in the past, especially when it comes to men, but she is now on the right track to getting her life back together and making the most out of what she's got.

With the aid of her best friend, Alyce, Josie sets off for a wild adventure full of snooping and spying as she uncovers all kinds of trouble in the quiet suburbs of St. Louis. A gambling ring, a peculiar sex scandal, and a tangled web of deceit and deception, Josie tries to figure out who is behind this mess before he or she comes after her next. So little time, so many shoes. How will Josie sort through the lot and come up with the killer while staying abreast on the latest fashions and trends?

HIGH HEELS ARE MURDER is a hilarious romantic suspense that keeps the reader turning the pages and shopping for more. Elaine Viets' strong female character, Josie, has a no holds bar approach to investigating that makes any woman think she can go out there and just do it. Light, entertaining, and laugh out-loud funny. HIGH HEELS ARE MURDER is this season's fashion must-have.

Every job has its pluses and minuses. Josie Marcus gets to shoe-shop-but she also must deal with men like Mel Poulaine, who's too interested in handling women's feet. Soon Josie's been hired by Mel's boss to mystery-shop the store, but one step leads to another and Josie finds herself in St. Louis's seedy underbelly. Caught up in a web of crime, Josie hopes against hope that she won't end up murdered in Manolos.
