Sue Watkins

Sue Watkins

Sue Watkins is a firm believer in the old adage, “It’s never too late, if you have a dream”. In the 5th grade, writing a short story where the boy and girl actually kissed, got her into a lot of trouble with her teachers and parents. Thus, her wanting to write began. You have to remember that back in the 50’s, it was quite a different time than it is now. Her writing career would be curtailed for many years with getting married so young. Becoming an avid reader and accumulating over 7,000 books in her personal library, replaced her longing to write. Married for 43 years and raising five children kept her busy. As a child, her family moved a lot. From Minnesota, Oregon, Wisconsin, and Iowa, the family roamed. After her marriage she and her husband moved from Pendleton, Oregon to Seattle and now Idaho, where they currently reside. Attending her youngest child’s graduation in 2002, she heard several young speakers say in different words, but meaning just the same. “If you want to do something, do it, don’t procrastinate. If you do start, finish it. If you don’t, you will be sorry for it later.” Sue started writing the novel she’d put off for almost 30 years.
