August Martin Jr.

August Martin Jr.

August Martin Jr. began his career at Twentieth Century Fox where he worked for twenty-one years marketing films. During this time, he developed a passion for the art of storytelling which evolved to a love for reading. Fourteen years after the passing of his father, August decided to finish this novel as a legacy to his father and to raise funds for the charity his parents founded – the Oakdale Children’s Guardian Home.

His father, August L Martin Sr.  (1934-2005) was the the son of Portuguese immigrants and a dairy farmer since the age of 4. At the age of 53 he became a renaissance man - learning to play the violin, writing poetry and beginning this novel in 1991. He finished writing this story before having a massive stroke in 1996. The words in Running with the President are inspired by his prose, passion and unique voice.
