Note of warning THE FAIRIES OF SADIEVILLE is the very last
novel in the Tufa
series, so reading this book without having read the
previous five novels will make it a bit hard to really
understand since many events and people from the previous
books will be addressed. You can read this book as a
stand-alone. However, having at least read one or two books
before will make this book a bit easier to understand.
Now for the story. When graduate students Justin and
Veronica are cleaning out a dead professor's office are they
surprised to find a film canister with a silent movie from a
century ago that shows a young woman who turns into a winged
being. However, the town Sadieville where the movie is shot
seems to not exist, at least not anymore. So, they go to
Needsville to search for clues about the missing town. When
they arrive in Needsville the townspeople are not very
helpful as no one seems to know about a town called
Sadieville, however, a man called Tucker Carding helps them
out. The question is, why is he so helpful? Has he some
hidden motive?
THE FAIRIES OF SADIEVILLE is a perfect ending to a series
that started of with THE HUM
AND THE SHIVER where for the first time we get to know
the residents of Needsville, the mysterious Tufa who are
said to have been in Tennessee since before the European
colonists and even before the Native Americans arrived on
the continent. There are those that say the Tufas are
descended from the fairies, from the fabled land of Tir na
nOg. However, fairies don\'t exist, or do they? For Justin
and Veronica this little trip in search for Sadieville will
change their world as they follow Tucker Carding into the
dark woods surrounding Needsville.
I have to admit that I wouldn\'t mind a book or two more.
Yes, the ending is good, but still, it\'s an ending, I
can\'t but help thinking what next? What will happen next
for the people? Is this really all? Is it, Alex Bledsoe? So,
do yourself a favor if you haven\'t read any of the books in
the series and now are curious and want to read them, start
from the very first book THE HUM
AND THE SHIVER and read them all!
Charming and lyrical, The Fairies of Sadieville continues Alex Bledsoe's widely-praised contemporary fantasy series, about the song-wielding fairy descendants living in modern-day Appalachia.“This is real.” Three small words on a film canister found by graduate students Justin and Veronica, who discover a long-lost silent movie from more than a century ago. The startlingly realistic footage shows a young girl transforming into a winged being. Looking for proof behind this claim, they travel to the rural foothills of Tennessee to find Sadieville, where it had been filmed. Soon, their journey takes them to Needsville, whose residents are hesitant about their investigation, but Justin and Veronica are helped by Tucker Carding, who seems to have his own ulterior motives. When the two students unearth a secret long hidden, everyone in the Tufa community must answer the most important question of their entire lives — what would they be willing to sacrifice in order to return to their fabled homeland of Tír na nÓg?
