Although Cindy Sample’s initial dream
was to be Nancy Drew, after graduating
with a BA in history she quickly
realized the necessity of a weekly
paycheck. Putting aside her literary
longings, she applied for a job as a
receptionist with a real estate office.
Her career eventually led to President
of a national mortgage banking company.
After one too many corporate mergers,
Cindy decided it was more fun to plot
murder than plod through paperwork. Her
experiences as a single Mom with on-
line dating sites and dating agencies
fueled the concept for DYING FOR A
DATE. Her books are set in
Placerville, California, the gold
country town formerly known
as “Hangtown”.
Cindy Sample writes a monthly humor
column entitled Hot Flash for the Gold
River Community Newspaper. She is a
past president of the Sacramento
chapter of Sisters in Crime and has
served on the YWCA, Sacramento Opera,
and California Mortgage Bankers Board
of Directors. Cindy recently agreed to
co-chair the Left Coast Crime
Convention, which will be held in
Sacramento in 2012. Visit her website

I'm still going on first dates so I have lots of material if you run out, Cate. I haven't experienced any olive incidents but since I talk with my hands, I've learned to only drink white wine or there won't be a second date. The book sounds great. Can't wait to read it.
Hi Lois. This is a great post because I've been analyzing the topic of romance and whether it can be successfully included in a traditional mystery. I admit I personally prefer a book where all three components are there: an intriguing plot, some romantic sparks, and a nice dose of humor. Who doesn't like the on and off again relationship between Stephanie Plum and Joe Morelli?
By the way, I'm halfway through "Assault with a Deadly Glue Gun." What great fun. Thanks for creating Anastasia and her wonderful family.
