Caroline Prater and John Strickland are two very different
people. Caroline was adopted as an infant, and never felt
like she fit into her adoptive family or the small town in
Kentucky where she was raised. As a teen she was most
likely on the verge of discovering a life different from
the one she was brought up in, when she got pregnant. She
married Randy, the baby's father and settled into the life
of a Kentucky farm wife, and mother. John Strickland is an architect. He has numerous clients
and travels between his two offices. He's educated, self
assured and has a core group of friends and associates in
Shelter Valley. He couldn't be more different from
Caroline with one exception. Both John and Caroline are widowed. The sudden unexpected
death of their spouses has left both John and Caroline
with overwhelming feelings of despair. Neither is looking
for love or commitment, but sometimes we get what we're
not looking for when we least expect it. Through the course of SOMEBODY'S BABY Caroline shows a
quiet strength. She's a calming force in
any crisis situation. It's through her ability to remain
calm in a crisis that she finds what she's been searching
for...a place to belong where she can show all the aspects
of her personality. Ms. Quinn is able to convey to readers the depth of
emotion facing John and Caroline. It begins with the
death of their spouses and continues through the abduction
of a young child, and back home to Kentucky in having to
deal with an alcoholic parent. Through it all John turns
to Caroline and readers will rejoice as both find their
way together. SOMEBODY'S BABY is a part of the Shelter Valley Stories
series. If you're a returning fan or new to town
SOMEBODY'S BABY is sure to be a great summer read. Grab
the sunscreen, the favorite cold drink and enjoy!
SUMMARY
When she discovers she has a twin living in an Arizona
town called Shelter Valley, Caroline Prater decides to go
there. Pregnant and a widow, she leaves her Kentucky
hometown and drives west. She'll try to connect with her
twin sister, Phyllis Sheffield. And she'll seek out John
Strickland, the father of her baby — if only to let him
know. John is a well-known architect, a still-grieving widower
who's settled in Shelter Valley. He and Caroline met six
weeks earlier when he traveled to Kentucky…. Caroline's waiting for the right moment to approach
Phyllis, unsure whether her unsuspecting twin will welcome
her presence. And she develops a deeper relationship with
John — but that's just for the baby's sake. Or is it?
