The thought of switching identities, even if for just a brief moment, is such a tempting proposition. Seeing the world through someone else's eyes enables the least suspecting soul to be caught off guard and if lucky, one can discover his or her most sacred secrets. When cousins Ariel and Sara decide to play the role of each other, they soon discover that they both have taken on more than what they bargained for. Their dubious plan takes on a life of its own as things quickly spiral out of control. Their somewhat harmless ruse quickly turns into a disaster when they find themselves knee deep in murder, deception and desperation.

King's Isle is a quaint, sleepy little island off the North Carolina coast where all seems to be forgotten. The inhabitants are held hostage to the strong arms of the town and the people just appear to have accepted their fate. Tourists who dare venture to the island find themselves wishing that they had never come, that is if they ever manage to escape. When business tycoon R.J. Brompton, with the help of Sara, decides to investigate the picturesque island as a possible business venture, Ariel and Sara find themselves running for their lives as they try to uncover the truth behind the island's mysterious happenings.

In CAROLINA ISLE, Jude Deveraux once again draws the reader into her expertly written tale of suspense and love. The action-packed plot engages the reader from the get-go as this entertaining tale unfolds. The secondary characters play a significant role in the novel and add the perfect amount of spice and charm. The true success of this book lies in the outstanding character development of the two lead characters, Ariel and Sara. Deveraux transforms these two naïve girls into strong, likeable women while providing the reader with a delightful escape. Amusing, adventurous and agreeable! Deveraux delivers a worthy read!

SUMMARY

Ariel and Sara never imagined their high-spirited attempt to step into each other's shoes would cause such upheaval. The lifelong pen pals, who look exactly alike, meet for the first time in their twenties and embark on a daring adventure of changing identities. Southern belle Ariel is determined to win the heart of a man who doesn't know she exists, while Sara yearns to leave behind her hardscrabble existence and taste the good life that fate has denied her. But in pretty Arundel, North Carolina, nothing is as it seems -- including the dangers that are closing in on their new dream lives, as the deepest of fears and darkest of secrets and betrayals come to light.
