In Tina St. John's first Dragon Chalice novel, HEART OF
THE HUNTER, Ariana of Clairmont and Braedon le Chasseur
rescued her brother, Kenrick, from the evil Silas de
Mortaine. Recovered from his imprisonment and in possession
of Calasaar, one of the pieces of the Dragon Chalice, in
HEART OF THE FLAME, Kenrick is determined to find the
remaining pieces of the Chalice before deMortaine or former
friend, Draec le Nantres, can get their hands on them.
Haven is the lone survivor of an attack that left Rand of
Greycliff and his family dead, also leaving a clue to the
location of the Chalice missing. Gravely injured, with no
memory of her past or the attack, Haven is taken to
Clairmont to recover. Kenrick is sure that Haven's
knowledge of the attack will lead him to the missing clue.
She wishes the memory to remain gone, sure that knowing
what occurred on that horrible night can only lead to
disaster.
In spite of his suspicions regarding the lovely Haven,
Kenrick is drawn to her and encouraged by Ariana and
Braedon to deepen their relationship. When his friend Rand
returns from the dead with the story of what happened on
the night of the attack on Greycliff, Kenrick's faith in
Haven, and in his own moral beliefs, is sorely tested. Her
memory returned and her life threatened by her love for
Kenrick, Haven makes a deal with le Nantres in order to
aide Kenrick and Rand in their quest for the Chalice and
revenge upon those who killed Rand's family.
HEART OF THE FLAME is the second novel in the Dragon
Chalice series. Ms. St. John has outdone herself in this
latest page-turner, creating charismatic, sympathetic
characters, frightening villains and twists and turns to
surprise and entertain readers. The passion and heartache
between Kenrick and Haven is sumptuous and catching up with
Braedon and Ariana is an added treat. The next Dragon
Chalice novel can't come soon enough for me!
Six months in an enemy's dungeon might have broken a weaker
man, but former Templar knight Kenrick of Clairmont has
emerged from imprisonment with an unyielding determination,
and consumed by a single daunting quest: to find the Dragon
Chalice, a mystical treasure said to grant its bearer
unlimited power. It is a dangerous chase, one that pits
Kenrick against foes skilled in dark, deadly arts. But no
obstacle will prove more treacherous--nor more seductively
lethal--than the fiery beauty called Haven.
Caught up in the battle for the Chalice, Haven survives a
night of terror that leaves her wounded and near death. Her
memory scorched by fever, Haven awakens to find herself in
the care of the forbidding, handsome Kenrick, who offers
his protection in return for her alliance. A tenuous trust
is formed between them, which soon ignites into a fierce
passion neither can deny. But Haven's past is beginning to
surface, and her secrets will threaten the fragile bond
that she and Kenrick share--and embroil them in a fight for
their very lives . . . .
