    Fresh Fiction Review

Lily Crandell has some advice for the rest of us: Never marry a rock star. You know, they lie, cheat, drink too much and do drugs. And there are all those groupies hanging around all the time. Hmmm...She's probably right!

I DID (BUT I WOULDN'T NOW) is the story of Lily as she jets across the pond to Great Britain to escape assault charges pending against her by ex-husband, rocker Ted Dayton of the Dayton Five. Lily and Ted had quite a tumultuous marriage and their divorce is even more so. Ted, the self-centered artist, has taken up with Melanie Slate -- Hollywood's latest bombshell with a killer body and no brain.

Lily's hatred for Ted fuels her desire to torture him in juvenile ways, such as placing prank phone calls and sending out phony news releases just to screw with him. She does everything a person fantasizes about after a break-up to torture an ex -- things a sane person would never do. Lily is extremely likable and easy to relate to, even in her exaggerated state, probably because her character is honest about her ugly, yet funny, feelings.

I loved reading about Lily, the sarcastic star of Lockwood's latest novel, a follow-up to I DO (BUT I DON'T) featuring Lily's straight-laced sister Lauren. This is the first Lockwood novel I've read, and I'll be sure to pick up her other works. Filled with plenty of pop culture references, I DID (BUT I WOULDN'T NOW) is a light, fizzy, refreshing, fun read!
