Olivia Harper is still dealing with the effects of a witnessed trauma, when she returns home to Cape Sanctuary, California, to help her mother. Cooper Vance has recently returned to his hometown to help his recently single sister with her 3 boys. Coming home brings up old memories, new secrets, and a lie that will change all the lives at THE SEA GLASS COTTAGE forever.
RaeAnne Thayne begins her new Cape Sanctuary series with THE SEA GLASS COTTAGE. She shows the reader a small-town life in northern California where the characters are strong, independent women who must come to terms with their future and the past and their feelings for the men in their lives. I was a little disappointed in how much pain there was in everyone’s past; it was a little overwhelming at time. As always, however, Ms. Thayne's writing is emotional, riveting, and keeps you hoping all turns out well. I look forward to hopefully reading the story of Cooper’s sister and maybe his new EMT.
The Sea Glass Cottage is the second original hardcover release from New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author RaeAnne Thayne. With the emotional pull of Debbie Macomber, Barbara Delinsky and Susan Wiggs, this is an uplifting story of loss, healing, family and triumph over life's adversities as three women try to heal the scars of the past and make peace with each other.
The life Olivia Harper always dreamed of isn’t so dreamy these days. The 16-hour work days are unfulfilling and so are things with her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when she hears that her estranged mother, Juliet, has been seriously injured in a car accident, Liv has no choice but to pack up her life and head home to beautiful Cape Sanctuary on the Northern California coast.
It’s just for a few months—that’s what Liv keeps telling herself. But the closer she gets to Cape Sanctuary, the painful memories start flooding back: Natalie, her vibrant, passionate older sister who downward-spiraled into addiction. The fights with her mother who enabled her sister at every turn. The overdose that took Natalie, leaving her now-teenaged daughter, Caitlin, an orphan.
As Liv tries to balance her own needs with those of her injured mother and an obstinate, resentful fifteen-year-old, it becomes clear that all three Harper women have been keeping heartbreaking secrets from one another. And as those secrets are revealed, Liv, Juliet, and Caitlin will see that it’s never too late—or too early—to heal family wounds and find forgiveness.
A very good review and I'm looking forward to reading this book. RaeAnne can rip your heart out but put it back together better than new. Thanks. (Kathleen Bylsma 11:26pm May 8, 2020)
