Fans of Lucy Monroe's Children of the Moon series will be thrilled to get their hands on VIKING MOON, This offering pits a warrior princess and Viking who are destined mates, but she has other ideas for her future, and he is not part of her plans. Haakon doesn't understand why Neilina has refused him until she finally tells him his father had destroyed her entire pack. On top of that, she was not there to protect them, and it was her job as Conriocht to protect her people. Haakon never knew about his father's time as a berzerker, and once he learns the truth, he understands her desire to never mate with him. But he would not stop trying.
The Chrechte people must group together or face extinction; sometimes the threat was from those who live among them, but want the races to remain pure. So Neilina and Haakon finally meet face to face and try to draw their people together, and in the process of saving their people, they manage to work toward each other. We learn that Neilina has lived with guilt as much as anger for all the years since the death of her pack and realizes that she could not blame her future mate for what was done in the past. Haakon had a lot to learn about his family, but he never gives up hope of his mate accepting him. It took awhile but the happily ever after does finally come to them
Long-time fans will be delirious with this offering as it takes us back to this favorite series with a new, fresh look. Nelina and Haakon are fantastic characters, and it is interesting to watch them as they finally become the mates they were destined to be. The supporting characters are varied and just as intriguing with the parts they play in the storyline. I do feel the need to warn readers that there is a male/male mating in this book. It is tastefully done and completely acceptable in this world, but I know some who might be uncomfortable reading this. VIKING MOON might not a good starting point for beginners to this series, as the names of the different peoples and the terminology might be confusing for newcomers. I would recommend starting at the beginning with "Moon Awakening" to better understand this captivating world.
VIKING MOON is a unique look at shifters in a different kind of world - after all, there are Vikings, women warriors, healers, shifters (of which one becomes a sabretooth tiger) - all in a book that fans will not be able to put down.
A warrior princess and a Viking are destined to meet and destined to mate, but what happens when destiny is denied?
Neilina is wolf shifter and conriocht. Haakon shifts into a sabretooth tiger, asmundr - the ultimate guardian of feline shifters. Both are Chrechte, both will spend centuries guarding their people. They can barely look at one another without needing to touch. It should be the perfect mating.
But when Neilina was still training for her role as conriocht, Haakon's father brutally murdered her entire pack. She has spent nearly two centuries alone, living with the pain of that asmundr's betrayal and her own failure. She knows Haakon is her mate, but she’ll never accept a Viking cat shifter, much less the son of the man who has caused her such grief.
Haakon never knew his father as destroyer, all he does know is that he and his cat crave their mate. He will do whatever it takes to protect ad claim the woman destined to fight by his side, even if it means crossing an ocean and leaving everything and everyone he knows behind.
This is a critical time in Chrechte history, when the Paindeal, Faol and Ean must come together to fight a common foe, or be completely destroyed. Neilina and Haakon must learn to deal with the past as passion burns like a wildfire between them, and they must come together to protect all Chrechte.
