Un-Bridaled, the newest release by Eileen Rendahl is the
story of discovery after the un-wedding of Chloe Sachs and
her fiancé Mark Hutchinson. When the traditional Jewish
wedding that the two were having does not end with the
breaking of the glass Chloe hears a little voice in her head
that says run, and she does.
She does not run far... she runs to a place of comfort her
Gran's house. Gran offers Chloe the use of a bungalow that
she has inherited and wants to renovate. In exchange, Chloe
will oversee the renovations. Her first night in the
bungalow Chloe gets a head start on the renovations when she
takes a sledgehammer to a wall that is intended for demolition.
The mess she makes is not as big as she first thought it
was, but she does find a locked metal box hidden in the
wall. What she finds in the box sends her on a journey that
her beloved Grandmother does not want her taking, but which
Chloe feels has to be taken in order to better understand
the emotional make up of her family.
The journey of family discovery is not an easy one for any
member of Chloe's family, but one that is important to them
all. In the end, Chloe discovers that what really matters
is the love for family that we should all have, and that
each person loves their family members in the way that only
they can. Be it good or bad family is what makes each of us
who we are.
Ms. Rendahl writes stories of family that have me thinking
of my own family, and how we functions as a unit. Her
writing style makes it quite easy for a reader to place
herself in the story, and root for each character to get a
happy ending. I look forward to reading her next release.
With half her immediate family having been committed --
mentally speaking -- why can't Chloe Sachs commit? After
all, she's always been considered the sane one in the
family. But seconds before becoming Mrs. Mark Hutchinson,
Chloe leaves her handsome, successful fiancé at the altar
and tears down Interstate 505 in her red Nissan Frontier.
Maybe it was the heat of a California June wedding. Maybe it
was when a family tradition went awry before hundreds of
shocked guests. Or maybe it was because she heard a voice
telling her in no uncertain terms, Run!
Now Chloe has no Plan B, two kooky dogs, one angry ex, and a
truckload of wedding gifts to return. Taking refuge at her
grandmother's, Chloe helps renovate a bungalow that's been
in the family for years -- and unearths some surprising
secrets. She also discovers that leaving her heart open may
invite some very intriguing guests -- like the beguiling
veterinarian she can't get off her mind. And with her family
and friends' help, Chloe realizes she's truly free... to
follow her heart wherever it takes her.
