A Sarah Morgan Christmas book is always exciting to look forward to, and THE CHRISTMAS SISTERS was no exception in more than one way. The style of writing is great but the plot lines are a turn from her usual romantic, in love couple, friendships style. Continuing from her last release, HOW TO KEEP A SECRET, this too has a family theme, with the dynamic between sisters at its centre.
I have always love Morgan's romances, and I ended up loving this family-driven novel even more because it felt a bit more wholesome and fun at the same time. THE CHRISTMAS SISTERS focuses on the trio of McBride siblings - Hannah, Beth, and Posy.
A childhood tragedy defines the future of their interpersonal as well as their relationships with their parents. Holidays being a stressful time of the year for all the characters, things come to a head. What we read in this absolutely heartwarming story is how they all undo the hurts of past, their issues and all, come on the same page. It is a story of our times and how life and its humdrum coupled with some past issues, takes us away from our family and people who matter to us. The feels are right there in each of the sisters' stories, the fun and lightness come from their bickering and shenanigans during the built up to Christmas. The kids in the story are doing exactly what kids do in real life. They are sweet, funny, and equally frustrating at times. The parents, well they are an interesting couple, their personal dynamic is every bit full of the silver fox vibes. Their integrity and loves is what binds this tale together and makes it a wonderful read. THE CHRISTMAS SISTERS is my top Christmas book of the year.
