TO HAVE AND TO HARLEY is the
first book in Regina Cole's Bikers
and Brides series. This is the first book I've ever read by
Regina Cole, but I look forward to trying others. This story is an
interesting and unlikely mix of fun romantic-comedy and SONS OF
ANARCHY. The major difference between this book and other stories
about bikers, are the bikers themselves. The men in the Iron Shadows
are all basically good guys. Although in a biker gang, the Shadows are
more about taking down criminals rather than participating in the usual
criminal activities associated with biker gangs. Iron Shadows leader
Trey Harding is hit with an emotional grenade when he discovers his
long-lost mother and sister. His overwhelming feelings lead him to
make a rash decision and pretend to be a wedding planner. When Trey
is stuck planning his sister's wedding and has her BFF Bethany
checking up on him, lots of romantic shenanigans ensue.
For Bethany Jernigan, the Yelvertons are her family. With only a nasty,
psycho of a grandmother, the Yelvertons are her refuge. For Trey, his
biker brothers have been his family all these years. I'm happy that
Regina Cole doesn't have Bethany trying to prove Trey's a fraud
throughout the entire book. It doesn't take long for her to realize that
the hottie she's attracted to has a big heart. The conflict and drama in
TO HAVE AND TO HARLEY come
from Trey's having to hide what he and his biker brothers really do.
More than any sense of feeling ashamed, Trey feels that keeping his big
secret protects Bethany from danger. Trey is under a lot of pressure as
he and the Shadows try to take on the local drug dealers in town and
kick them out. Regina Cole makes a good effort of trying to balance the
fun and sexy times from the action and suspense-filled moments.
TO HAVE AND TO HARLEY is a
character-driven story full of rom-com fun with a splash of suspense. I
typically read romances that are light rather than suspense-filled, but
these characters are great and make this book worth checking out.
Wolf, Ace, and Jameson had the strongest presence in TO HAVE AND TO HARLEY and I can't
wait for their stories. I look forward to Regina Cole's next Bikers and Brides book.
You may now kiss the biker Bethany
Jernigan owes her bestie. Big time. So when wedding planning
overburdens the bride-to-be, Bethany steps in to handle the
nitty-gritty. But the guy in charge isn't anything like she
imagined. He's gruff, tattooed, and 100% male. His staff is
even rougher around the edges, and it's not long before she
feels as if she's stepped into some kind of crazy alternate
reality.
Are those...bikers? Arguing about wedding
favors?
Trey Harding never wanted this to get so
out of hand. One little lie somehow snowballed into a world
of dresses and flowers and food and
holy-hell-he's-in-over-his-head. But it's not like he can
confess he's not the wedding planner he's pretending to
be—especially now that he's falling for the maid of honor!
His charade is becoming a farce, and as engines rev and
ribbons fly, Trey's running out of time to figure out how to
tell the truth without losing his new family, his crew...or
the woman of his dreams.
