Beckett King has inherited his father's fortune and the only
person he feels he can trust is an old rival, Samara
Mallick. Samara has worked for Kingdom Corp for years and
had been his opponent to a number of bids and she managed to
outbid him a few times. But for THE LAST KING, she might be
all that stands between him and the enemies who are
attempting to destroy his life.
Samara considers herself to be a rebel, but her attraction
to Beckett is worrying. She works for his aunt, a dictator
of sorts, but one who brought an outsider up in the ranks.
Is this surprising request for help a ploy against his aunt
or just another try for bedtime shenanigans? When their time
together draws them closer so does a danger that neither of
them anticipated as well as feelings that deepen with each day.
THE LAST KING is a fascinating, amazing read. I loved it
from beginning to end as I was captivated by the two
differing personalities that slowly merged into a strong
force together. Both Beckett and Samara have issues about
family and you will see just how much the King and Mallick
families are really screwed up. You will find that as you
turn the pages that this couple is getting closer and closer
with the things they do and say. I especially loved the
secrets game they played: when one told a secret the other
did too, and in that way they really got to each others'
heart faster. I also sympathized with Samara as she
struggled to believe that Beckett really wanted her, as the
same had happened to her mother. But, you are assured (and
so is Samara) that Beckett's feelings are real as he catches
himself making future plans with Samara in his life.
I think readers will really get a kick out of Frank Evans
and Journey King's (Samara's best friend and Lydia King's
daughter) moments together. She tries her usual wiles to get
him to sell a building and he doesn't seem affected by her
at all. Or is he playing her along so she learns a lesson
about men? They just seemed to rub each other the wrong way
and that leaves you to wonder where they will go next.
If you are looking for an intriguing look into what makes
people tick (even those who want to rule over everyone
around them because they deem it their right), a couple who
fall in love not just lust and work together to get answers
and move toward their future, while enjoying romance and
some very steamy moments, then get you hands on Katee
Robert's THE LAST KING. With this story you will believe in
happily ever afters while seeing the good guys win.
Ultra wealthy and super powerful, the King family is like royalty in Texas. But who will keep the throne? New York Times bestselling author Katee Robert introduces a red-hot new series.
THE MAN SHE HATES TO LOVE
Beckett King just inherited his father's fortune, his company-and all his enemies. If he's going to stay on top, he needs someone he can trust beside him. And though they've been rivals for years, there's no one he trusts more than Samara Mallick.
The rebel. That's how Samara has always thought of Beckett. And he's absolutely living up to his unpredictable ways when he strides into her office and asks for help. She can't help wondering if it's a legit request or just a ploy to get her into bed. Not that she'd mind either one. After all, she likes to live on the edge too.
But soon the threats to the King empire are mounting, and the two find family secrets darker than they ever imagined and dangerous enough to get them both killed.
