Rachael West lives on her family farm in Milton, Australia where they
raise wheat. For the past ten years, Rachael has cared for her ill
mother, who is dependent on her daughter's help. Giving up her
dreams of going to college and being with her one and only love,
Matthew, Rachael remained on the farm. When Matthew broke up with
Rachael and went on to become a doctor, she was heartbroken and
continued to love him. Unexpectedly, Rachael receives an invitation to
Matthew's extravagant all-expenses-paid wedding in Paris. Encouraged
by her family and friends, Rachael decides to go to Paris with her best
friend Sammy has her plus one, hopefully embarking on the adventure
of a lifetime. And maybe no one would notice that she made all of her
dresses herself...
What a welcome in Paris! A chauffeur whisks Rachael and Sammy to a
five-star hotel called Maison Lutetia, they receive gift bags with a
week-long wedding itinerary, passes to every Parisian museum
imaginable, and are shown to a gorgeous room. At the cocktail party on
the first night, Rachael and Matthew are finally reunited, and she meets
his fiancee, Bonnie. She also meets the handsome, world-traveled
Antonio Ferranti, who's the wedding photographer and friend of
Bonnie's. A serious photojournalist, he has traveled the world on
exciting assignments for National Geographic. He takes Rachael on a
personal tour of Paris, and spend time together in the days leading to
the wedding, making Rachael wonder if maybe she's finally found the
person to help her get over Matthew...
Charlotte Nash writes a lovely story about love lost and found, about
family and friendships. This is a journey for Rachael of personal
discovery and finding what she wants for her life and herself. The city
of Paris adds charm. The descriptions of the Eiffel Tower, the many
museums, and fine restaurants are an added delight to this wonderful
tale of moving on and finding your dream. Rachael was a sweet heroine
and the photojournalist, Antonio Ferranti, will steal your heart. The
couture dresses Rachael created were sensational. I loved this book.
Brava!
In Australian bestselling author Charlotte Nash's U.S.
debut, a young woman attends her ex-boyfriend's Paris
wedding and discovers more than she ever dreamed in the
ultimate city of love.
Imagine you are invited to Paris, the City of
Love, to witness the wedding of your first love to a woman
you’ve never met. Would you go?
It’s been ages since Rachael West has seen the man she once
believed she couldn’t live without. Receiving his wedding
invitation was bittersweet—she was oddly touched he’s asked
her, but knows that facing him on this day would be the
hardest thing she’s ever done.
But her friends and family convince her to attend. After
all, it’s an all-expenses-paid trip to Paris! Surely she can
get through that one day, and discover all the delights of
that magical city the remainder of the time.
So Rachael leaves her small town, setting off for the City
of Lights with her best friend, two feuding neighbors, and a
suitcase full of home-sewn couture in tow. She’s determined
to let Paris work its magic—and it does by way of a handsome
photojournalist. And before her adventure is over, Rachael
will be faced with yet another choice. But this time, hers
isn’t the only happiness at risk . . . .
