Joan Johnston hits the mark with SURRENDER, weaving a tale of danger, heartache, and
a family drama with love conquering all. SURRENDER sets a thrill ride that tugs on heartstrings
throughout as Taylor and Bran fight for their lives both physically and
emotionally.
Taylor Grayhawk and Brian Flynn are caught between their families
because of a feud that their fathers have had for years. When they
were teenagers, they dated and fell in love. Brian even makes up a
nickname for Taylor: "Tag," because of her initials. But young love can
be fleeting, and they break things off before they get too attached.
Taylor becomes a pilot who drops smokejumpers into fires, and
unbeknownst to Taylor, Brian is the latest smokejumper on a new trip.
Dangerous circumstances cause them to jump out of the plane, and
they take shelter in a cave. Stranded and without resources, Taylor and
Brian have to figure out a way to survive.
With their feuding families trying to find them, Taylor and Brian lean on
each other for strength, confiding their fears and secrets to each other
during their seclusion in the wild. But if they do survive the brutal
wilderness, will they be able to survive their true feelings?
I'm looking forward to the next book in the Bitter Creek-Kings Brats series by Joan
Johnston, who is an absolute favorite of mine. I can't wait to see how
characters introduced in this book end up together. Great read!
When a sudden tornado of flame from a raging forest fire
snuffs out both engines of the Twin Otter being piloted
by Taylor Grayhawk, she locks eyes with the last man on
the plane: her longtime enemy and one-time lover, smoke
jumper Brian Flynn. Grayhawk and Flynn can’t agree on
anything—not even how to escape their desperate
situation. Once they’re on the ground, the only shelter
they can find leaves the adversaries trapped together—
with no way out.
Injured and starving, Taylor and Brian struggle to
survive, yet somehow the threat of imminent death
reignites something deep and powerful between them.
Feelings they thought long dead rise from the ashes,
suddenly making them more than just allies in a life-or-
death struggle against nature’s fury. A still greater
challenge awaits when fate delivers them from harm and
puts their rekindled love to its ultimate test: Surrender
to each other, or part forever.
