The third in the Timber Creek K-9 mysteries,
HUNTING HOUR written by Margaret Mizushima proves that this
is a marvelous series! With this being the first of the
series that I have read, I will be getting my hands on the
first two as I
cannot get enough of the characters that Mizushima has
created. In HUNTING HOUR the story continues, but does not
leave you lost with where the characters are within each
other's lives. A thriller like no other, it will keep you on
the edge to the very end.
Mattie Cobb is a deputy in Timber Creek with her faithful
K-9 partner Robo. When a junior high student goes missing
and is found dead, Mattie goes to tell Cole Walker, the
local vet and her close friend about the girl. Not too long
after, one of Cole's daughters goes missing and Mattie, with
the help of Robo, make it her
mission to bring her back alive! In the process, Mattie has
to face some of her own demons without letting it interfere
with the job she has set out to do.
It didn't take long to learn that Mattie has feelings for
Cole and vice versa. As each has their own emotions to work
through, other obstacles would soon pop up leaving each one
with uncertain thoughts about what they are truly feeling.
Mix this in with suspense in finding a lost child, and you
cannot begin to
stop reading until the last page! Margaret Mizushima knows
how to make her readers not only love the characters in
their imperfect world, but she also knows how to give us a
thriller that will have us pondering it days after. HUNTING
HOUR is a mystery to not miss!
Deputy Mattie Cobb is in a dark place and has withdrawn
from Cole Walker and his family to work on issues from
her past. When she and her K-9 partner Robo get called to
track a missing junior high student, they find the girl
dead on Smoker’s Hill behind the high school, and Mattie
must head to the Walker home to break the bad news. But
that’s only the start of trouble in Timber Creek, because
soon another girl goes missing—and this time it’s one of
Cole’s daughters.
Knowing that each hour a child remains missing lessens
the probability of finding her alive, Mattie and Robo
lead the hunt while Cole and community volunteers join in
to search everywhere. To no avail. It seems that someone
has snatched all trace of the Walker girl from their
midst, including her scent. Grasping at straws, Mattie
and Robo follow a phoned-in tip into the dense forest,
where they hope to find a trace of the girl’s scent and
to rescue her alive. But when Robo does catch her scent,
it leads them to information that challenges everything
they thought they knew about the case.
Mattie and Robo must rush to hunt down the kidnapper
before they’re too late in Hunting Hour, the third
installment in critically acclaimed author Margaret
Mizushima’s exhilarating mystery series.
