Fantasy

The first book in the highly anticipated Blood and Gold book series by Kim Wilkins is titled DAUGHTERS OF THE STORM. An extraordinary novel that once you start reading, you will not put down until you finish reading the last page. Wilkins is a remarkable storyteller that has created a vividly realistic and detailed historical fantasy that you will simply devour.

The character list is a quite a large one for DAUGHTERS OF THE STORM. Each character is well developed with intriguing backstories and unforgettable personalities. Together, they help tell a story that is magical and full of fantasy. Combine the wonderful and creative list of characters with a truly out of the box plot making this a remarkable read.

DAUGHTERS OF THE STORM is a novel that is full of friendship, drama, family, hope, tragedy, and triumph. When you put five sisters together in hopes of saving the crown you know it is going to be a battle both against each other and their stepbrother. All in hopes of saving the kingdom. Who can you truly trust when the goal is the same for so many? Can you trust your sister when you both want the same thing?

The ending is one that you will not expect! DAUGHTERS OF THE STORM is a wonderful novel that has so many twists and turns that are sure to draw you in from the beginning. As you read page after page, you will never guess what answers you will find at the ending. The only disappointment I have for DAUGHTERS OF THE STORM is that I have to wait for the next book in the Blood and Gold book series.

SUMMARY

Five very different sisters team up against their stepbrother to save their kingdom in this Norse-flavored fantasy epic—the start of a new series in the tradition of Naomi Novik, Peter V. Brett, and Robin Hobb.

FIVE ROYAL SISTERS. ONE CROWN.

They are the daughters of a king. Though they share the same royal blood, they could not be more different. Bluebell is a proud warrior, stronger than any man and with an ironclad heart to match. Rose’s heart is all too passionate: She is the queen of a neighboring kingdom who is risking everything for a forbidden love. Ash is discovering a dangerous talent for magic that might be a gift—or a curse. And then there are the twins—vain Ivy, who lives for admiration, and zealous Willow, who lives for the gods.

But when their father is stricken by a mysterious ailment, these five sisters must embark on a desperate journey to save him and prevent their treacherous stepbrother from seizing the throne. Their mission: find the powerful witch who can cure the king. But to succeed on their quest, they must overcome their differences and hope that the secrets they hide from one another and the world are never brought to light. Because if this royal family breaks, it could destroy the kingdom.
