Savannah Dubrinsky, the daughter of the prince of the
Carpathian people and his once human wife (now converted to
full Carpathian), has been raised to believe she has a
choice in her lifemate. Fate and DARK MAGIC have their own
ideas -- and Gregori Daratrazanoff knows how to manipulate both.
Gregori has given Savannah time to grow up but he has known
she was his before she was even born. In case you missed
when this happened, it was in DARK
DESIRE that Raven Whitney Dubrinsky, the prince
Mikhail's wife, was attacked by "hunters" almost died and in
danger of losing Savannah. Gregori ... nope sorry you will
have to read that book and DARK MAGIC to find out what he
did and feels just a little guilty about.
To give her time to live a little he has taken a very big
chance. As an ancient who has lived a long time and fought
many vampires the toll on his soul has been greater than
most other Carpathian warriors. He did this knowing what
being his lifemate will be to the spirited woman. He knows
once he claims her, he will never be able to let her out of
his sight.
DARK MAGIC is a reprint of the fourth book of author
Christine Feehan's Carpathian series. It is just what the
title says magical with scary moments with danger coming
from many directions. It also features one of my most
favorite areas, New Orleans. Love the sounds and feel that
Ms. Feehan offers her readers making us feel as if we are
there listening to the music and eating beignets.
This was one of my favorite books of the series because
Gregori was always one of my favorites. Cold, enigmatic and
the "boss" of the prince as his second and bodyguard, I
wanted to see how Savannah would be able to handle the man.
Which, in my opinion, she certainly learned very quickly to
hold her own. She was able to get him to include her, after
a bit of trial and error (mostly on his part) and was able
to assuage some of his guilt. You can see her love for the
man, even if he might have been in a bit of denial. You have
to remember he lost his emotions a long time ago and didn't
recognize them when they hit him upside the head. The best
part was that Gregori learned to he has a sense of humor, it
is definitely a bit twisted, but since it is usually aimed
at this father-in-law it really is funny.
DARK MAGIC is an amazing book and I loved the opportunity to
read it again and it actually got me re-reading the others
in my read-again pile (which is all of them).
Young Savannah Dubrinsky was a mistress of illusion, a
world-famous magician capable of mesmerizing millions. But
there was one—Gregori, the Dark One—who held her in
terrifying thrall. Whose cold silver eyes and heated
sensuality sent shivers of danger, of desire, down her spine.
With a dark magic all his own, Gregori—the implacable
hunter, the legendary healer, the most powerful of
Carpathian males—whispered in Savannah’s mind that he was
her destiny. That she had been born to save his immortal
soul. And now, here in New Orleans, the hour had finally
come to claim her. To make her completely his. In a ritual
as old as time . . . and as inescapable as eternity.
