Young Adult

Charlotte had goals set for her life and the last thing she wanted was to follow in grandmother, mother and sisters' path. None of them finished school and they got pregnant at young ages. Charlotte had no intentions of having a boyfriend. Charlotte just wanted to get good grades, go on to Stanford and make her grandmother proud. Until a stranger walked into the flower shop where she worked.

Tate looked just like any other guy. One exception is that he is a big-time rock star. Charlotte living in her sheltered existence had no idea that her life was about to change. Tate asked her out several times, but Charlotte always had an excuse. Charlotte's best friend Carlos finally convinces her to at least go out with him once.

Charlotte finally gives in, still not realizing who Tate is. But that is about to change in a big way. Once the press finds out, Charlotte's face is in all over the newspaper and Charlotte's grandmother is very upset with this. How was Charlotte going to get into Stanford, if she is now with this rich rock star?

As much as Charlotte tries to go on with her life, Tate is not far behind. Tate has a lot of secrets that little by little he starts to open up to her. Is this really what she wants for her future? Tate feels that he can maybe make Charlotte happy by giving her everything. While Charlotte is overjoyed by getting these things, she knows that in reality, this is not going to make her happy.

Elizabeth Craft and Shea Olsen write a great novel about first love. How innocent their character Charlotte is. I really like the way that they made her first love a great one. I think this could be how every girl feels that her dreams of meeting the handsome prince come true.

I am sure that when a normal person meets rich person things can go completely wrong. FLOWER is a very touching book on first love. I really like the title FLOWER. It kind of says it all. Even though this book is probably for the young adult, I feel any age would enjoy this storyline.

SUMMARY

These are the things that I've always wanted: To get the top grades in my class. To make my grandmother proud. And most of all, proof that I could succeed where the rest of my family had not: a Stanford acceptance letter, early admission. My mother and my sister were obsessed with boys and love and sex. So obsessed that they lost sight of their futures, of what they wanted. And in the end, they lost everything. I'll never let a boy distract me. I promised myself that. But that was before Tate. Before the biggest pop star on the planet took an interest in me. Before private planes and secret dates and lyrics meant for me alone. There's so much I don't know. Like why he left music. Where he goes when we're not together. What dark past he's hiding. But when we kiss, the future feels far away. And now…I'm not sure what I want.
