Vicki Preston, survived an attack by a serial killer, with
a little help from a ghost and a young Boston patrol
officer. This was the first time she had ever seen this
ghost but years later he is still a constant companion,
even when she was away from home in college. Now, she has
to help the F.B.I. with a new killer who is burying women
and sending notes with hints that if solved could get to
the victims before their last DYING BREATH.
Special Agent Griffin Price is a new member of the Krewe of
Hunters, the F.B.I.'s special unit for paranormal
investigators. He is back in Boston on a new case, a serial
killer with the moniker Undertaker. The clues lead him back
to the past and the past leads him right to the girl,
now a beautiful woman, he saved years ago from the serial
killer. Well, he and a ghost saved her. He doesn't want to
involve her in this case, but the killers did just that, by
mentioning her in the clues.
DYING BREATH takes us back into author Heather Graham's
Krewe of
Hunters series with a bang. I loved the look into
the past where Vicki and Griffin first meet and seeing how
they both coped with the strange happenings that took
place. I have to admit I certainly understood her parents'
reaction to her helping the agents and got a big kick out
of how Griffin handled it all. Though the Krewe books are
what some might call milder in the horror factor there are
enough twists, turns and downright surprises that will keep
you glued to the pages. Vicki and Griffin with the Krewe
members are rather quickly able to decipher the clues and
save a number of victims, while the couple are getting
closer to each other. The romance hits just the right notes
because in the midst of tragedy and fear it only seems fair
that they find a little happiness.
I love this series and haven't read a bad one yet and this
one is really exceptional in hitting the right tone.
DYING BREATH will give you a intriguing mystery, action,
drama, romance, some slips, slides, twist and turns along
the way and the HEA we all demand.
Buried alive… As a teenager, Vickie Preston survived an attack by a serial killer. That was the first time she saw a ghost. Now the city of Boston is being terrorized—someone is kidnapping women and burying them alive, but cruelly leaving a glimmer of hope for the authorities by sending a clue about their location. Vickie is pulled into the investigation when her name is mentioned in one of the notes. And as a historian, she has the knowledge to help uncover the graves the killer known as the Undertaker is choosing. But she also has another, unique lead: the spirit of one of the victims is appearing to her in dreams. Special Agent Griffin Price is on the case for the Krewe of Hunters, the FBI's special unit for paranormal investigators. He feels particularly protective of Vickie, since their shared past is connected to the threat that currently surrounds them. With the killer accelerating his plans, time is running out for more victims hidden around the city. Vickie is becoming closer with Griffin, but she's getting too close to the danger, and every breath could be her last.
