HOLD ME COWBOY is part of the Copper
Ridge series and trust
me once you read one you are hooked. Of course Maisie Yates
made sure each story is somewhat independent of those that
came before. But if you've been following this series it
will delight you to glimpse into the current status of the
characters. Welcome back to the West family -- I promise you
will be intrigued. Its tough handling emotional pain -- not obvious and yet an
ever present ache. HOLD ME COWBOY is a story about two
people who use subterfuge to hide their angst from events
that devastated them -- the only way they could manage was to
find a way to mask the pain which ultimately brought their
personal lives to a grinding halt. Sad and lonely but a
sort of cocoon to protect them from any additional source of
pain. But do those really work? Both Maddy and Sam live in fear of disappointing someone
which is a somewhat sad self-fulfilling prophecy -- in each
of their cases their fathers. Hard to design a life based
on others expectations instead of your own dreams, goals and
talents. And that's what Madison and Sam had in common. Maddy hid behind a bad attitude and Sam erected a wall. Kind
of difficult to break down those barriers. The magic of Maisey Yates dialog in HOLD ME COWBOY brings
all her characters to life. You can't help falling in love
with Maddy even though you have to fend off her sharp
tongue. But it is readily apparent that this is a defense
mechanism used well by Maddy and brilliantly penned by
Yates. Sam is a self-professed grump. He hides his pain and
disappointment very well. Sam's outlet is his metal work and
art. So Maisey Yates decided to pair up this very different
couple. The tough gruff blacksmith and the sharp tongued
socialite are just the best.
