WILD AT WHISKEY CREEK is book two in the Hellcat
Canyon contemporary romance series. Many readers will
be familiar with Long from her historical romance series
Pennyroyal Green with the redoubtable Everseas and
Redmonds; Pennyroyal Green quickly became an auto-buy series
for me. Long demonstrates she is equally capable of
writing a gripping contemporary tale with her Hellcat Canyon
couples. Just like book one, HOT IN HELLCAT CANYON, book two is
angsty and heartbreaking and incredibly compelling.
Glory Greenleaf has always been a wild child. She vowed
to get out of town and hit stardom with her singing and
songwriting, but she's sucked back to small-town Hellcat
Canyon to take care of her mother now that her brother is in
jail. She feels stuck in that same little town where
everyone knows her and has certain expectations for Glory's
behavior. Glory has two people who have always supported
her singing dreams- her brother and Eli Barlow. But
Sherriff Eli is the man who put Glory's brother in jail.
Glory can't forgive Eli for her brother's imprisonment, or
for the passion-filled night they almost had months ago.
It's
easy to become wrapped up in Glory's life and feel free
and out of control with her during the story. Glory is a
very fun character. She's uninhibited and
expressive, leading with her feelings at full speed.
Eli has held a torch for Glory for so many years, but
she's frozen him out of her life. Eli thought that Glory
left to pursue her dream in San Fransisco, so when
Glory turns up in Eli's town again, Eli tries to stay away,
but Glory's shenanigans draw him right back into her orbit.
Pretty soon they can't leave each other alone, even as
they're trying to resist their feelings (and their
hormones!) Eli is such a solid and honorable man, I am
totally rooting for him to get his Happily Every After. I
adore how Eli is determined to get Glory what she wants and
needs, even if he means he'll be left behind with a broken
heart. Now that's true love!
WILD AT WHISKEY CREEK is sure to leave you a little mad,
a little weepy, and whole lot in love with Glory and Eli.
Julie Anne Long has written another contemporary romance
winner that is sure to please.
Everyone knows the Greenleaf family puts the “Hell” in
Hellcat Canyon—legend has it the only way they ever leave is
in a cop car or a casket. But Glory Greenleaf has a
different getaway vehicle in mind: her guitar. She has a
Texas-sized talent and the ambition (and attitude) to match,
but only two people have ever believed in her: her brother,
who’s in jail, and his best friend . . . who put him there.
Sheriff Eli Barlow has secretly been in love with Glory
since he was twelve years old. Which is how he knows her
head is as hard as her heart is soft—and why she can’t
forgive him for fracturing her family . . . or forget that
night they surrendered to an explosive, long-simmering
passion. But when a betrayal threatens Glory’s big break,
Eli will risk everything to make it right . . . because the
best way to love the girl from Whiskey Creek might mean
setting her free forever.
