Wyatt Hammer owns a construction business. He is not a
millionaire, but he does very well financially, he's
good-looking, he loves the ladies, and well, he's WELL
HUNG. Natalie Rhodes has been his assistant for the past
six months, she does a stellar job, she's nice, funny, and
her All-American good looks dazzle Wyatt. But oh no, he
is not going to allow his mind to go there. No, not this
time, not after the disaster with another assistant with
whom he got involved. However, there was this business
trip to Las Vegas which didn't turn exactly as planned...
WELL HUNG is the third installment in this -- still
nameless! -- series, and Lauren Blakely is on her way to
penning one of my favorite contemporary romance series
ever. WELL HUNG is so much fun, with great
characters, wildly entertaining banter, and the writing
is flawless, as always. I love the tone: it feels as if I
were having a drink with my friend Wyatt. WELL HUNG is
told from the hero's point of view, but Wyatt is more
driven by his "little head" than Nick and Spencer were in
books one and two; he is a very sexual man and definitely
founds his match in Natalie. I loved the interactions
between Wyatt and Natalie: they are obviously very good
friends, they work together splendidly, even though they
both try desperately to fight the attraction that they
find hard to ignore.
Some parts of WELL HUNG are so hilarious, I would advise
against reading in public; I know I had a hard time not
giggling and snorting on the bus. Ms. Blakely is
masterful at expressing emotions: you share the fun, the
playfulness when Nat and Wyatt tease each other, and the
genuine affection as well. Ms. Blakely expresses
beautifully the euphoria that one feels upon learning the
person you lust after feels the same way about you, that
all-encompassing feeling of happiness, of giddiness, and
Wyatt, all he-man that he is, wallows in his blissful
state. Natalie and Wyatt understand each other, they
"get" each other's quirks, and that is somewhat of a
problem. Natalie is essential to Wyatt's company's
success, she doesn't want to lose her job, but their
attraction is simply more than they can handle. They
shouldn't, but they can't keep their hands to themselves,
which leads to some of the hottest sex scenes I have ever
read. And then Wyatt panics, makes a mountain out of what
really is a molehill, and an unnerved Wyatt is something
to behold! He has had some very bad experiences with
girlfriends in the past, and this makes him behave at one
point like an irrational fool. This was presented so
realistically by the author, that it almost hurt me as
much as Natalie, but what a glorious feeling when an
author can make me empathize that much with a character,
and this bump in the road led to fabulous character
development. WELL HUNG is a sexy feast of a book, and as
a scrumptious dessert, there are previews of the next two
books. Is it October yet?
Here's what you need to know about me -- I'm well-off,
well-hung and quick with a joke. Women like a guy who makes
them laugh. Even better if he's loyal and hard-working.
That's me.
Enter Natalie. Hot, sexy, smart, and my new assistant. Which
makes her totally off limits...
Hey, I'm a good guy. Really. I do my best to stay far away
from the kind of temptation she brings to work. Until one
night in Vegas...
Yeah, you've heard this one before. Bad news on the business
front, drowning our sorrows in a few too many Harvey
Wallbangers, and then I'm banging her. In my hotel room. In
her hotel room. Behind the Titanic slot machine at the
Flamingo (don't ask). And before I can make her say "Oh God
right there YES!" one more time, we're both saying yes--the
big yes--at a roadside chapel in front of a guy in press-on
sideburns and a shiny gold leisure suit.
We'll just untie the knot in the morning, right?
The trouble is . . . I don't know how to keep my hands off
my soon-to-be ex-wife.
