ORBS STRANDED is book two of the ORBS
series and I do suggest reading the first book,
ORBS, before starting into this one. The earth has been
invaded by aliens who are
depleting the earth of its most precious resource: water.
They are
taking it all, including the water in our bodies. Humanity
is almost lost and the few survivors in the biosphere are
doing what they can to save what is left. Some want to
fight, some want to hide and the division is causing stress
among the few humans left to put together the pieces. When
one of their own is taken,
an eleven year old boy, the group of survivors are driven to
do the
unthinkable to save him. And any other humans they can find.
Nicholas Sansbury Smith has created a fascinating series
with his ORBS books. The enemy is truly terrifying and you
can hear the scrape, scrape of the creatures while
you read
and feel the fear of those hiding and fighting. Humanity is
seriously threatened in ways that leave people and the
planet with little chance of survival. While you
read, you try to figure out just how they are going to do it
and things look pretty bleak for the survivors.
For any fan of science fiction this series is a must read.
You need to read all of them, you won't want to miss a word.
ORBS by Nicholas Sansbury Smith is a mixture of all your
favorite science fiction books thrown into one.
Dr. Sophie Winston and her team of survivors fend off the alien invasion in Orbs II: Stranded, the second book in Nicholas Sansbury Smith's bestselling Orbs series. At the end of the world, who can you trust? The aliens have invaded, wiping out almost all life on earth. Their goal: water. Huge spaceships are draining the oceans, and the few remaining humans have been herded into farms, where their bodies are harvested to support the growing alien army. Humanity's last chance lies in the biospheres that have been planted secretly across the globe. But all is not peaceful in the biosphere led by Dr. Sophie Winston. With resources dwindling and tensions high, her small group of survivors is divided. Some want to fight, some want to stay hidden, and Sophie just wants to keep everyone alive. When one of their own, eleven-year-old Jeff, is kidnapped by the Organics, Sophie is forced to pick sides. With the help of a promising new magnetic weapon, the biosphere team just might have a fighting chance to save Jeff and the world--if they live long enough to use it.
