Tori Chazov has a number of secrets the least of which is
she is a F.B.I. asset. Who would guess that she could be
more than a mechanic with the perfect touch that keeps
muscle cars revving. But something is about to happen to
make everything SHIFT for her.
Emery Martin is a geek, a computer whiz that Tori secretly
has the hots for. She's not sure why, he barely talks to her
or at least not in complete sentences. But when he gets word
that a Russian hit team has targeted Tori he immediately
jumps into action. Surprising the heck out of her and really
himself when the secrets start coming out and the sparks
begin to fly around them and between them.
SHIFT is a fast paced cleverly written action packed read.
This book is different than most F.B.I. or dark op books as
we get the feeling of the underside of the good guys lives
and how things just might really be. There are things held
from this group who have done their jobs to get the bad guy
arrested but have been kept in the dark about what happens
next. Nothing is quite what it seems not even Tori, her
sister Roni and certainly not Emery. There are many hidden
depths to this group of men and women, and a few other law
enforcement people who come into play. I'm not sure I loved
Emery or Tori for that matter, but they did fit each other
well and the supporting characters were varied and believable.
I will admit that due to my not reading the first book of
author Sidney Bristol's Hot
Rides, it took me awhile to put
all the characters in place but once I did this was an
amazing read. I will pick up the first book and look
forward to reading the next ones in this intriguing series.
Nothing shines like classic cars under the Miami heat. With engines revving hot and emotions running high, sparks are sure to fly . . . Tori Chazov isn't exactly the girl next door. For one, if the neighbors found out she's an FBI asset and the daughter of a KGB defector, she'd have to grab her go bag and run. Then there's her day job: making magic happen under the hood of big beautiful muscle cars. She's more likely to be wearing engine grease than mascara, and most guys don't fantasize about their mechanics. But then most girls don't fantasize about FBI tech geniuses, either, and Tori has it bad for Emery Martin. Emery has a past. She can see it in the way he keeps his body honed like a weapon, in the mysterious scars under his snap-button shirts. She can see it in the way his eyes follow her around the room, even though he never says a word. He's going to have to start talking now, though. A vicious Russian hit squad is on the way to Miami to take Tori out for good. And without Emery's help, she might not make her last great escape . . .
