"Six individuals must stop the darkness...."

Romance Paranormal | Fantasy

Where is the Water Star hidden? Six individuals must find it in order to stop the Nerezza. Goddess of the Dark. The Guardians of the Stars- Annika, Riley, Sasha, Bran, Doyle, and Sawyer King- are all determined to stop Nerezza. Each one of them is imbued with special abilities. Annika is a mermaid, gifted with legs for only a short time before she will return to the sea.

I love stories with mermaids and Annika didn't disappoint as a heroine! It took me a little while to decide whether I liked her or not as I'd missed the first book where readers were introduced to the characters. However, Annika quickly won me over as her bright and sunny nature in the midst of such darkness was refreshing! Seeing the world through her eyes adds an element of beauty, such as how she sees a tie-dyed shirt as rainbows. Quite honestly, Sawyer didn't stand a chance of resisting her charms!

BAY OF SIGHS is the second book in The Guardians Trilogy. While it can be read as a standalone story, I suspect readers will appreciate and enjoy it more if they read the first book prior to starting BAY OF SIGHS. I found myself a little disoriented in the beginning as the character development and world building had already been established in STARS OF FORTUNE. However, Nora Roberts doesn't leave new readers hanging for long as I was able to acclimate myself to her world quickly enough to enjoy BAY OF SIGHS.

BAY OF SIGHS is yet another beautiful tale from the talented pen of Nora Roberts. I'm definitely going to have to read the first book in this trilogy while anxiously waiting on the conclusion, as we have several threads still hanging. BAY OF SIGHS is easily recommended!

SUMMARY

The new Guardians Trilogy novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Stars of Fortune.

To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces…

Mermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there she must return after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, along with her graceful athleticism, as her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the fire star.

Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the water star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground...

And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled—the mermaid’s in the water and the traveler’s on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human.
