Tell Me No Lies

Romance Erotica Sensual | Romance Suspense | Romance Contemporary

Guys, I just could not with this book. Could. Not. If you are someone who likes serious, and I do mean serious Alphas, or are into the power dichotomies frequently present in NA, then you very well may enjoy this. It has intrigue, suspense, mysterious dudes doing mysterious things, and a lot of other hallmarks Alpha-centric romantic suspense. It was a quick read and I could see many folks enjoying this while sipping iced beverages next to a pool.

For me, I'm growing more and more tired of Alphas who have no other real dimension. It's all starting to read as slightly neanderthal, and the trusting heroine who trusts the near stranger with her sexual awakening is a trope I am certainly over. I don't often like NA, and this veers into that genre more than I'd like. I found myself being able to guess almost exact lines of dialogue, plus all the "twists" were telegraphed. I had hoped the line in the teaser "claim what's his" would be based upon a relationship in which there was mutual consent to commitment. Instead, following a two- week fling on a tropical island during which he was never vulnerable with our heroine, so she spends two years pining for him entirely based on orgasms? I don't even know. And then he returns from a super-secret mission to "claim" her? I'm out, y'all. Out.

I fully recognize that this type of fantasy is right up many readers alleys. Please do not let me dissuade you from reading if you believe you will like this, despite my personal misgivings. There's a reason I'm picky about romantic suspense, and anything involving dudes who work in Special Ops; this type of story is "good for you, and not for me."

SUMMARY

Also available as a paperback on Amazon and Samhain.

That was then…

While hunting down his target in Jamaica, Kael Bradford fell hard for a beautiful, unsuspecting tourist. He thought the only thing he needed to protect her from was him. Until the line between personal and professional blurred in a cloud of deadly danger.

This is now…

Rain Howard thought she’d met the perfect guy. But after two romantic weeks in Jamaica, he disappeared. Two years of trying to forget him, and she’s finally found the courage to quit her job and open a beignets and coffee café. Then he appears out of the blue, wanting to pick up where they left off.

And there is only one truth…

Kael never wanted to leave her, but it wasn’t safe for him to stay. He had to put space between them before the bad guys figured out there was someone he loved. Besides, if she discovered all his secrets…she wouldn’t want to be with him anyway.

Now, the coast is clear. And he’s returned, finally, to reclaim what’s his.

Warning: Could inspire erotic new beignet-eating techniques that’ll get you thrown out of the Café du Monde. Also includes: spanking, dirty secrets, dirtier desires, political assassinations, and jealous best friends.
