Romance Western

I eagerly seek out any book by Carolyn Brown and so that's why I grabbed WHAT HAPPENS IN TEXAS. This happens to be a reprint of a previous book entitled The Blue-Ribbon Jalapeno Society Jubilee.

Having said that if you missed it the first time around you need to get your hands on WHAT HAPPENS IN TEXAS which is Carolyn Brown's first story in her Cadillac series and definitely stands the test of time. Carolyn Brown's irreverent humor sets the scene through her sassy dialog. The characters practically jump off the page. It's definitely a family affair in this book where Brown illustrates her gift of gab.

Marty and her twin Cathy had somewhat different visions for their personal futures. Cathy's involved marriage and having a family. Marty's immediate concern was repair on her car, working at their family café and keeping her friends and sister out of trouble. A very tall order. The last being the most difficult and definitely time consuming -- leaving little or no time for a personal life.

But now it's going to get even more interesting for both twins, Marty and Cathy, their cousin Trixie and Aunt Agnes and a bunch of other folks -- basically friends and neighbors -- when the lines are drawn in the little town of Cadillac. How could you not love Aunt Agnes -- a certified NCIS fan -- swears like a truck driver and protects her family like a Pitbull. Hey even a small town has its share of bossy, pushy, bordering on nasty people. Add to that the Blue-Ribbon Jalapeno Society with twenty one of the craziest loons ever to foist their power and opinions on what happens in Cadillac.

And let us not forget Darla Jean -- madam turned preacher. Well if its war they want then its war they'll get Jubilee style. Hold onto your hats.

You will never be able to say "ain't that nice" without breaking out with a foolish grin on your face -- thanks again to Carolyn Brown's amazing dialog and storytelling.

WHAT HAPPENS IN TEXAS starts out so simple and escalates into an amazing page turning experience a la Carolyn Brown.

SUMMARY

Carolyn Brown brings her unique voice to this tale of twin sisters finding love in a small Texas town

Cathy Andrew's biological clock has passed the ticking stage and is dangerously close to "blown plumb up". While her twin sister Marty thinks settling down with one man is just a waste of good cowboys, Cathy wants it all: the perfect husband, the baby, and a little house right there in Cadillac. But even as the town is laying bets on whose wedding will be next, Cathy doesn't see happily-ever-after happening anytime soon.

Fortunately, Cathy and Marty have best friends who aren't afraid to stir up a ruckus-and if it means Cathy's got to bust out and set the town on its ear they'll back her up-no matter how hot things get.
