Romance Paranormal

ALPHA EVER AFTER is Book 5 in Jessica Sims' "Midnight Liaisons" series featuring a dating agency for paranormals. It's not absolutely necessary, but reading DESPERATELY SEEKING SHAPESHIFTER before reading ALPHA EVER AFTER will give a little context for Savannah and Connor's complicated relationship. If you've never read any previous books in the "Midnight Liaisons' series, Jessica Sims does a great job of telling the story of how Savannah and Connor wound up in the very difficult situation that lead to Savannah's pregnancy. Fans of this series have been waiting for this story for a very long time and Jessica Sims does not disappoint with ALPHA EVER AFTER.

I'm glad ALPHA EVER AFTER is told from alternating perspectives, because I really need that in order to understand and sympathize with Savannah. The circumstances under which Connor got Savannah pregnant were far from ideal, but I have always felt Savannah was a little harsh on Connor. Connor is stuck with his pack's reputation for being hillbilly, werewolf jerks and as alpha is working hard to clean house and change his pack for the better. It's this sense of integrity paired with sexy strength and a devotion to the woman he loves that makes Connor such an awesome hero. His struggle to win Savannah and understand her point of view had me rooting for him the entire book. This is a perfect story for readers who enjoy great paranormal romances and relationships with heart and and characters who have a long history.

The supporting characters -- both old and new -- tie everything together in ALPHA EVER AFTER, spur the story on, and add some humor to balance out the angst. Party girl werewolf Gracie is a hoot and Jessica Sims does a wonderful job of giving her layers in each story she pops up in. I would love to read a story about Gracie in the future. I also love Jessica Sims' "Primordial" shifters in ALPHA EVER AFTER. The Primordials provide a lot of enjoyable goofy moments due to their unfamiliarity with this modern era - which is very different from the place and time that they came from. The interesting possibilities that the Primordials present have me chomping at the bit for more "Midnight Liaisons" stories.

ALPHA EVER AFTER has a hot werewolf hero who will make you howl and great storytelling. Jessica Sims balances the steamy scenes with the humor and the poignant moments. I look forward to reading the next installment in this "Midnight Liaisons" series.

SUMMARY

Connor's loved Savannah from the moment he laid eyes on her. She's his mate, no matter what she says.

Savannah's hated the Anderson pack ever since they kidnapped her. That fateful week had big consequences, though, and now she's pregnant with Connor's twins. He's elated. She's...less enthusiastic. She wants the babies but him? Not so much. He's a bossy werewolf who thinks he can dictate what she does. She's a were-cougar who won't be pushed, especially not by a know-it- all wolf alpha.

So why is it every time that she tries to move on, he's right there waiting for her? And why does she compare everyone else to a certain tall, dark wolf? Why does she crave Connor more than pickles and ice cream?
